and diverse contemporary artists, establishing a home for emerging and 
established artists, and creating a dynamic teaching environment and 
pedagogical model for community-based arts education and meaningful 
artistic experiences.

Get a taste of batik in this hands-on session that introduces the fundamentals of this layered textile process.&nbsp;You’ll&nbsp;work with wax&nbsp;resist&nbsp;and fabric dyes to build pattern and imagery, learning how designs develop through successive steps of waxing and dyeing. With guided instruction,&nbsp;you’ll&nbsp;complete a small batik piece while getting comfortable with the tools, materials, and rhythm of the process. This class is designed as an accessible entry point that balances structure with experimentation. All supplies are provided, so you can focus on making and enjoy seeing your work come together. If&nbsp;you’re&nbsp;inspired to continue, consider joining one of our longer textile courses.

What happens when two ambitious young immigrants come to America, reinvent themselves in Las Vegas, charm the world, build a rhinestone kingdom at The Mirage, and then discover that even white tigers have limits?
Shangri-La-La is a fast-moving new comedy musical inspired by the rise of Siegfried &amp; Roy — with original songs, Vegas glamour, impossible dreams, outrageous costumes, magic, friendship, immigrant reinvention, Steve Wynn, Bugsy Siegel, and just enough tiger danger to keep everyone alert.
Written by Mike Meier &amp; Peter Giambalvo, the show is part showbiz fairy tale, part immigrant dream, part Vegas fever dream — and, yes, inspired by actual events. Unfortunately.
The New York performances are part of the Midtown International Theater Festival and will take place at the American Theatre of Actors in Midtown Manhattan.
Come for the music. Stay for the magic. Leave with a renewed respect for tigers.
