Paoli Battlefield Historical Park

Please Share!!Join us on Saturday, November 7th, as we welcome experienced paranormal investigator, psychic, and author Laurie Hull as she leads us on a nighttime paranormal walk around the historic Paoli Battlefield where she will let you know the different spirits she has communicated with and the experience she has had examining this battlefield.
On the night of September 20th, 1777, Anthony Wayne’s two Pennsylvania Brigades were surprised by General Charles Grey’s forces in what became known as the Paoli Massacre.
We welcome you to travel back to a pivotal moment in Pennsylvania’s Revolutionary War as we guide you through the historic Paoli Battlefield after sundown. Author and paranormal investigator Laurie Hull will lead you on this walk as we will show you the places on the battlefield where people have interacted with spirits on the battlefield, where fact meets folklore and the past finds a second life. This hour-long tour will have historians and experienced paranormal investigators leading you through different areas on the Battlefield where vivid narratives with the night landscape adds an uncanny dimension. It’s more than a tour—it’s an adventure that invites you to observe, listen, and perhaps glimpse the beyond.
She will be doing two tours – one starting at 7:00pm and one starting at 9:00pm. Both tours are limited to 20 people so please purchase your tickets now. There is no rain date and if we cannot hold the walking tour you will be refunded your money. If you paid for the tour and are a no show, your funds will be considered a donation to the Paoli Battlefield Preservation Fund.
Dinner/Lecture at the Black Powder Tavern with Laurie Hull: THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 19, 2026
On Thursday, November 19th, Laurie Hull will have a dinner-lecture at the Black Powder Tavern (located at 1164 Valley Forge Road, Wayne, PA 19087), as she shares spooky tales about the hidden and haunted history of the American Revolution.
Many believe the bloody battles fought for independence left behind specters of a spooky nature. From heroic figures whose presence exceeds their living days to those sad souls who can’t escape the experiences of war, a long list of paranormal activity can be connected to the conflict that founded our nation. Laurie has spent over two decades researching the area and collecting eerie stories of our region. She weaves legend, history, and personal encounters into tales of haunted houses, battlefields, and more, including stories from Valley Forge, Paoli Battlefield, and the Black Powder Tavern itself! Dinner will start around 5:45pm and the lecture will follow in the upstairs room above the dining room.
The dining room will open at 4:45pm and we ask that you arrive before 5:15pm to avoid any parking issues. All beverages are included except for alcoholic beverages which can be purchased for an additional charge. The all-inclusive price includes the dinner buffet, non-alcoholic beverages, gratuity, taxes, the lecture, and a donation to the Paoli Battlefield Preservation Fund. We’ll be serving a special buffet dinner with dishes reminiscent of those served during colonial times in our area. Dinner will be served around 5:45pm. The price of the lecture is $49.99 per person. You Must make your reservation now as there is limited seating. If you paid for the dinner/lecture and are a no show, your funds will be considered a donation to the Paoli Battlefield Preservation Fund.
Special Pricing for BOTH the Waling Tour and Lecture:
As a special offer, if you want to purchase both the walking tour and the dinner/lecture, we are offering a discounted rate of $74.99 per person (savings of $10 per person). Please act now as we only have a limited number of slots available and this special will fill up quickly.

Black Powder Tavern

Join us on Tuesday, November 17th, 2026, as we are honored to welcome back historian and author Tim McGrath as he presents his award-winning book, James Monroe – A Life. Our lectures are very popular and have sold out in the past so please make your reservations now. Each lecture will be on the 3rd Tuesday of the month. All beverages are included with the exception of alcoholic beverages which can be purchased for an additional charge. The all-inclusive price includes the dinner buffet, non-alcoholic beverages, gratuity, taxes, the lecture, and a donation to the Paoli Battlefield Preservation Fund. Please make your reservation now as there is limited seating. (add Link) Each lecture will be Revolutionary War themed and will begin after dinner in the upstairs seating area. You must settle your bill for any alcohol beverages before you go to the lecture room. Speakers may bring books along to sign and sell after each lecture so make sure to purchase one before you leave. Monroe lived a life defined by revolutions. From the battlefields of the War for Independence to his ambassadorship in Paris in the days of the guillotine, to his own role in the creation of Congress's partisan divide, he was a man who embodied the restless spirit of the age. He was never one to back down from a fight, whether it be with Alexander Hamilton, with whom he nearly engaged in a duel (prevented, ironically, by Aaron Burr), or George Washington, his hero turned political opponent. This magnificent new biography vividly re-creates the epic sweep of Monroe’s life: his near-death wounding at Trenton and a brutal winter at Valley Forge; his pivotal negotiations with France over the Louisiana Purchase; his deep, complex friendships with Thomas Jefferson and James Madison; his valiant leadership when the British ransacked the nation’s capital and burned down the Executive Mansion; and Monroe’s lifelong struggle to reckon with his own complicity in slavery. Elected the fifth president of the United States in 1816, this fiercest of partisans sought to bridge divisions and sow unity, calming turbulent political seas and inheriting Washington's mantle of placing country above party. Over his two terms, Monroe transformed the nation, strengthening American power both at home and abroad. Critically acclaimed author Tim McGrath has consulted an extensive array of primary sources, many rarely seen since Monroe's own time, to conjure up this fascinating portrait of an essential American statesman and president. Tim McGrath has his BA in History, from Temple University in 1974. He is a business executive who lives outside of Philadelphia. He has served on the board of directors of Independence Seaport Museum, Fort Mifflin on the Delaware, New Courtland Elder Services, the Kearsley Retirement Community (founded by Benjamin Franklin’s physician), Philadelphia Senior Centers, and Christ Church Hospital. His many interests, including tennis, horseback riding, and sailing, are limited only by creaking knees and a fickle rotator cuff. Over the years he has written articles on management, U.S. history, and healthcare issues for various newspapers and magazines. With his son, Ted (an award-winning freelance illustrator), he wrote Travels with the Commodore, a children’s book published for the Philadelphia Port Authority’s community reading program. Despite his terrible typing, he’s at work on a new biography on James Monroe for NAL/Penguin Books.
