Thomas Paine Memorial Building

<p><b>The program will begin with a reading of excerpts from the Declaration of Independence by students and a brief discussion with Paine scholars Gary Berton and Scott Cleary addressing Paine’s role during 1776 and the new insights to be gained from publication this year of six volumes of Paine’s <i>Collected Writings</i>. Several elected officials will receive a Thomas Paine Legacy Award certificate honoring their long-term support to the Paine historical sites in New Rochelle.The program will conclude with an imaginary dialogue between Thomas Paine and the late Jesse Jackson, bringing out principles they both promoted around democracy, civil rights, and equality. Following the program, conversations will continue outdoors on the Building grounds, weather permitting, with jazz music by the Brian Carter Quintet, and light refreshments.</b></p>

Join the New Rochelle Public Library Foundation for their next Cocktails &amp; Conversation event at The Dining Lab at Monroe University, featuring restaurateur and food influencer <b>Sabrina Rudin</b>, owner of <b>Spring Café</b> Aspen and New York.</p>
<p>Sabrina will be here to talk about her first cookbook, <i>Healthy with a Side of Happy</i>, and share what she’s learned about how to cook, eat and live in a healthier way for ourselves, our families and our planet. Monroe University’s renowned culinary team will prepare and serve samples from Rudin’s cookbook, which will be available for sale and signing.</p>
<p><b>Cocktails &amp; Conversation with Sabrina Rudin</b> will take place on Thursday, May 14 at The Dining Lab Restaurant at Monroe University (434 Main Street, New Rochelle) from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Tickets cost $70 and include delicious nibbles and two drinks.
