History

In the summer of 2004, our founding mothers came together out of a need for a local military support group while each had a child serving in the Armed Forces. The South Bay Blue Star Moms was formed. By early August of that year, the South Bay Blue Star Moms was six members strong. The first general meeting, held on August 24, 2004, was promoted in the media and approximately 20 military moms and a few dads attended the first general meeting. The South Bay Blue Star Moms is affiliated with the Blue Star Mothers of America, Inc., a group formed during WWII and officially chartered by Congress. In the fall of 2004 South Bay Blue Star Moms received their charter and officially became California Chapter #4, with a 501 (c) 3 status.

The South Bay Blue Star Moms is a military support group based in the Silicon Valley area of California, especially dedicated to supporting the troops and assisting the mothers and their families who have children serving in the United States military. A chapter of the Blue Star Mothers of America, the South Bay Blue Star Moms provide military family support in the San Francisco South Bay area in Northern California. Throughout the year, we create and send military troop care packages to show our loved ones they are heroes, we appreciate their service, and we continue to support them while they are away from home.

We share our concerns, our support, our pride and our devotion for our loved ones serving in the United States Armed Forces. Through various events and activities, we support fellow Blue Star Moms, associate members, our children serving in the military, our Veterans and our community. We provide military family support to benefit our members and their families. We promote causes that will benefit military personnel through a military advocacy program.

The South Bay Blue Star Moms is a non-partisan, non-sectarian, non-discriminatory and non-profit organization. Our mission is to support fellow Blue Star members, their sons, daughters and any other family members who are currently serving or have served in the Armed Forces of the United States of America.
