Moonlight 5K Returns to New Milford as Signature Kickoff to GOAT Days — Supporting The Ostomy Foundation’s Largest Fundraising Initiative
New Milford, CT — April 23, 2026 — The scenic banks of the Housatonic River will come alive under the evening sky as the Moonlight 5K returns to New Milford on Friday, May 15, 2026, serving as the official kickoff to the beloved <a href="https://goatdays.com/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">GOAT Days</a> celebration.
More than just a race, the Moonlight 5K is now the largest fundraising initiative for <a href="https://www.ostomyfoundation.org/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">The Ostomy Foundation</a>, supporting its mission to provide education, advocacy, and community for individuals living with ostomies due to cancer, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, IBD, trauma, and other life-altering conditions.
Set at Young's Field, runners and walkers will take off at 7:30 PM along a fast, flat course, professionally timed by iRunCT. Participants will experience a unique, high-energy atmosphere complete with music, community celebration, and a finish line that leads directly into a weekend of GOAT Days festivities, including food trucks, live entertainment, amusements, rides, baby goat petting zoo, and fireworks.
“This event represents so much more than miles,” said Bob Reiling, Executive Director of&nbsp; The Ostomy Foundation. “It’s about visibility, dignity, and showing people living with ostomies that they are supported by a powerful and compassionate community.”
A Community Effort with Lasting Impact
The Moonlight 5K reflects the strength and spirit of New Milford, CT — a town that continues to show up, give back, and lead with heart. From local government support to grassroots volunteerism, the event is made possible through the collaboration of dedicated partners including the <a href="https://www.newmilfordnow.org/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Town of New Milford</a>, <a href="https://www.gvfdct.org/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Gaylordsville Volunteer Fire Department</a>, and local organizations contributing to sustainability efforts like the <a href="https://drive.google.com/open?id=1EfDpmvN0Ov-LIRfxm1m4kAVz4Nzs5--h" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">New Milford Recycling Center</a> operated by 3 Veterans LLC.
The race also highlights the power of local and regional businesses coming together for a shared cause.
