Next meeting is Thursday, November 5 at 6 p.m. Time may adjust slightly with the seasons and setting sun. This club will meet until winter when southern migration starts in earnest. At the November meeting, we will have a presentation by the Cape Cod Mosquito Control Project. Learn more about diseases and treatments, and how these two species are connected and affect each other. Drop-ins welcome

Join us Friday, November 6 at 5 p.m. at West Falmouth Library for a special opportunity to meet author Annie Hartnett and discuss her novel The Road To Tender Hearts, a national bestseller and winner of the 2025 New England Book Award. The event will close with questions from the audience and a book sale and signing in partnership with Eight Cousins. Free and open to all.
The Road To Tender Hearts: A darkly comic and warm-hearted novel about an old man on a cross-country mission to reunite with his high school crush—bringing together his adult daughter, two orphaned kids, and a cat who can predict death.
“A miraculous novel—an actual and spiritual road trip you won’t forget.”—John Irving
Annie Hartnett is the award-winning author of three novels: Rabbit Cake, Unlikely Animals, and the national bestseller The Road to Tender Hearts which, in addition to the 2025 New England Book Award for fiction, was also longlisted for the Massachusetts Book Award, was named a best book of 2025 from NPR, LitHub, and Southern Living, and has been translated into nineteen languages. Along with the writer Tessa Fontaine, she co-runs Accountability Workshops for writers, helping writers commit to routines and embrace the long, slow, joyful, terrible process of doing the work. She lives in Massachusetts with her pretty good husband, perfect daughter, and two flawless rescue dogs, Willie Nelson and Minnie Mouse.

Two Palestinian cousins hustle their way through the underbelly of Athens, clinging to the dream of reaching Germany. As their circumstances grow more desperate, they are forced to confront how far they’re willing to go for a chance at a different life. Raw, urgent, and deeply human, To A Land Unknown captures the moral cost of displacement and the relentless pull of hope.
Nominated for the TIFF People’s Choice Award for Best Film, Cannes Directors’ Fortnight Award, and the Gotham Independent Film Breakthrough Director Award, To A Land Unknown is a gripping new Palestinian film about survival, desperation, and the pursuit of freedom.
