Isabel grew up in North Falmouth, and began working with glass as a student at FHS. Her work is deeply inspired by the wildlife and landscapes of the Cape. Works on display are for sale.

Join us Sunday, May 17 at 4 p.m. for an author talk at the library with Cape writer Jim Bowen, featuring the newly released title<a href="https://www.capecodfamilyfunguide.com/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener"> Cape Cod &amp; The Islands Family Fun Guide </a>followed by a book signing and sale in partnership with <a href="https://www.eightcousins.com/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Eight Cousins Bookstore</a>. This event is free.
Jim Bowen&nbsp;is a life-long Cape Codder. Through his writing, Jim offers thoughtful itineraries, local stories, and insider tips that help visitors experience the Cape like a local. A multifaceted artist and storyteller at heart, Jim brings a colorful patchwork of experience to this book. He’s been an award-winning entrepreneur, a community college adjunct professor, a nonprofit founder and community leader, and the force behind several mosaic murals that celebrate Cape Cod’s rich culture. His ability to connect with people across generations and backgrounds fuels both his art and his writing. Whether you’re planning a beach day with the kids, hunting down the best lobster roll, or seeking meaningful off-the-beaten-path experiences, Jim’s thoughtful, family-focused approach will help you craft unforgettable memories.

Yoga with Chelsea, Wednesdays starting May 6, from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. Chelsea’s class is gentle and appropriate for beginners. At the same time, almost everyone will find challenge in it, since we work with a range of skills: balance, strength, mobility, coordination, mental focus, and the skill of relaxing. Yoga is great at finding those neglected or hurting parts of our bodies and coaxing them into more freedom of movement, ease, and grace.
Classes include brief periods of quiet meditation, movement in and out of yoga poses, movement explorations influenced by various somatic traditions besides yoga, and there is always a period of quiet resting at the end of class, for a chance to enjoy all the benefits. After class, students tend to feel lighter, looser, and more clear-headed and connected.
Please bring a yoga mat if you have one. If you don’t, there will be several to borrow. Other props you might have, such as blocks, are helpful to bring as well.

Author <a href="https://www.natashawilliamswriter.com/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Natasha Williams</a> speaks at West Falmouth Library on Sunday, May 24 3-5 p.m. She will perform a reading from her acclaimed memoir <a href="https://library.clamsnet.org/Record/609821?searchId=37723169&amp;recordIndex=1&amp;page=1&amp;referred=resultIndex" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">The Parts of Him I Kept</a>, followed by a talk moderated by West Falmouth Library Executive Director Molly Akin.&nbsp;Book signing and sale in partnership with Eight Cousins to follow. Free and open to all. Co-presented with <a href="https://namicapecod.org/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">NAMI Cape Cod &amp; The Islands</a>.
The Parts of Him I Kept is an intimate account of a daughter’s coming of age in the face of her father’s schizophrenic unraveling. Williams investigates the limits of our medical and cultural understanding of schizophrenia while chronicling the shared burden and benefits of caring for a mentally ill family member. In the tradition of Ocean Vuong’s On Earth We are Briefly Gorgeous, Michael Greenberg’s Hurry Down Sunshine and Robert Kolker’s Hidden Valley Road, The Parts of Him I Kept asks us to consider the ways mental illness is as much a social issue as a biological condition.
Natasha Williams has a MA from University of Pennsylvania and in the summer of 2020, she accepted a spot with the Bread Loaf School of English and attended the Bread Loaf Writers Conference 2023.

<a href="https://www.instagram.com/brandidisterheft/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Brandi Disterheft</a> is an acclaimed Canadian-American jazz bassist, vocalist and composer known for her swinging bass lines and melodic improvisations. Her music blends straight-ahead jazz with contemporary influences, often featuring her soulful vocals. Having studied with Ron Carter, she won the JUNO (Canada’s GRAMMY) for Best Traditional Jazz Album of the Year in 2008 for her album Debut. Brandi has captivated audiences at international festivals, major jazz clubs and prestigious venues including Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. Now she comes to Falmouth, along with Alex Minasian on piano, as another great concert in our “Women Who Lead” series.

John Wesley United Methodist Church

To honor Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, the Boston Eastern Heritage Chorus, Waquoit Congregational Church choir, and the John Wesley United Methodist Church choir unite again for the third year in a row to present “Bridge to Harmony 2026”. This chorale concert features popular American, Italian, and Chinese folk art songs. The Boston Eastern Heritage Chorus, a popular Newton-based Chinese-American chorus since 2000, has won awards in international competitions including the World Choir Games in China, the World Choral Competition in Montreal, and the World Chorus Festival for Adults and Seniors in Vienna.
