Chafee Emory, Neighbor

Chafee Emory sailed into Newport for the first time in 2001.   10 years later she decided to place a stake in the Newport community by purchasing a local landmark.  In 2010, Chafee became the new owner and manager of the then 103 year-old retail shop Potter & Co.  Attracted by the physical and emotional history of the shop, Chafee hopes to give the shop a shot at another 100 years.  With the help of a great team she took on the monumental task of bringing the beloved store up-to-date in the 21^st century.  After closing for a brief two months in 2011, Potter & Co. reopened with a facelift – refinished hardwood floors front to back, new fitting rooms and most importantly a brand new handicap ramp and fitting room, finally giving equal access all customers.   Chafee welcomes all of her neighbors to come in say hello and most mportantly meet Bella, the real boss at the shop…
