This class is designed to educate and empower you to support knee health using the principles of tai chi. This class is taught by Holly Sweeney-Hillman, who has written many articles and taught seminars on the subject of the benefits of tai chi to support the knee. She has graduate degree from New York University in Ergonomics and Orthopedic Biomechanics and is a Senior Instructor and chair of the educational committee of the International Yang Family Tai Chi Chuan Association.
In this class you will learn how to support and strengthen your knee with proper alignment and posture. The movements are low impact and can be done by complete beginners and even those with sensitive knees. This class encourages safe movement and long term joint comfort in a calm and supportive environment.
This class is suitable to people of all experience levels from complete beginners to advanced students. All are welcome.

Falling is the number one health risk we face in the latter part of our lives. Countless research studies have shown that it is possible, at any age, to reduce our risk of falling by learning and practicing tai chi.
As more research is conducted on balance, fall risk and tai chi; it has been discovered that cognitively enhanced tai chi is even more effective in preventing falls. Like learning and practicing good habits of dental hygiene, learning good habits for cultivating and maintaining balance skills can become a life long tool for preserving the physical and mental capabilities that we need for good balance.
This 8 week class will provide education and practice in static, dynamic, adaptive and dual-task (cognitively enhanced) balance skills. Tai chi experts will present the balance habits you need with attentive individualized instruction. Video support will be provided for each week’s balance exercises so you can practice at home.

Balance &amp; Flow® Studio is a ground-level, no-stairs facility with ample parking and a calm, supportive environment. Chairs are provided for all participants, and all movements are fully adaptable for seated or standing participation. Classes are intentionally small, paced slowly, and designed to minimize symptom flare while promoting safe, progressive movement re-education.

8 Weeks to Better Balance: Evidence Based Tai Chi Class

Balance &amp; Flow®: Living Well With Fibromyalgia is an 8-week Tai Chi-based wellness program designed to support individuals living with fibromyalgia through gentle movement, balance training, breath regulation, relaxation techniques, and self-management education.
The program is informed by published clinical research demonstrating improvements in pain, fatigue, sleep quality, physical function, balance, mood, and overall quality of life among individuals with fibromyalgia participating in Tai Chi programs.
Living with fibromyalgia can make movement feel challenging, unpredictable, and exhausting. Yet research has shown that gentle Tai Chi practice may help improve pain, fatigue, sleep quality, balance, physical function, and overall quality of life.
This supportive, small-group program emphasizes working within your personal comfort level. Movements can be performed standing or seated, and no previous Tai Chi experience is required. Participants will receive an individual intake consultation before the course begins and a follow-up consultation at the conclusion of the program to review progress and discuss next steps.
Whether your goal is to improve mobility, reduce stress, sleep better, increase energy, or simply feel more comfortable in your body, this course provides a safe and welcoming environment to explore the benefits of Tai Chi.
