Longtime residents of the Lower Naugatuck Valley may remember Rena's Ultra Boutique, the Bank Street business opened by Rena Lewis in Seymour in 1971.
Known for lingerie, intimate apparel, wigs and adult novelties, Rena's was also something less visible: a place where people could shop privately, ask questions and feel accepted during a time when conversations about sexuality were far less open than they are today.
More than 50 years later, Rena's granddaughter, <a href="https://milfordmedspa.com/glow-getters/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Ashley Fox, LPN</a>, is carrying an unexpected part of her grandmother's legacy forward.
Ashley is now a Certified Sex Therapy Practitioner at Milford Med Spa &amp; Wellness and will be part of <a href="https://milfordmedspa.com/sex-over-35-event-in-milford-ct-ct-sex-week/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Sex Over 35: Hormones, Desire, Pleasure &amp; Connection</a>, a free community educational event on Tuesday, September 29 from 6–8 PM in Milford.
Growing up, Ashley saw firsthand how her grandmother Rena made people feel comfortable discussing subjects that were often considered taboo. Rena welcomed customers from many different backgrounds and created an environment centered on privacy, respect and acceptance.
Today, Ashley brings those same values to conversations about sexual wellness, relationships, intimacy and the changes that can happen throughout adulthood.

Sex Over 35 will bring healthcare professionals, patients and community members together for an open, judgment-free conversation about how hormones, health, relationships and intimacy can change as we age.
Topics will include:
<ul><li>How hormones can influence sexual health, desire, energy and well-being</li><li>Perimenopause, menopause and the changes that can come with them</li><li>Men's hormone health and changes that can occur with age</li><li>Why desire can change and why it doesn't look the same for everyone</li><li>The connection between physical health, medications, stress and sexual wellness</li><li>Intimacy and communication as individuals and relationships evolve</li><li>When changes may warrant a conversation with a healthcare provider</li><li>How pleasure, confidence and connection can continue to evolve throughout adulthood</li></ul>
Ashley will be joined by <a href="https://milfordmedspa.com/who-is-the-alchemista-dr-courtney-holmes-at-milford-med-spa/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Dr. Courtney Holmes, APRN, DNP</a>, founder and medical director of Milford Med Spa &amp; Wellness and a menopause and hormone care specialist, and <a href="https://milfordmedspa.com/glow-getters/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Kelly Cahill, LPN, Certified Menopause Coach.</a>Current hormone-care patients will also share their experiences, and Courtney's husband will contribute a partner's perspective to the conversation.&nbsp;Attendees will have an opportunity to participate in an anonymous Q&amp;A.
Whether you've noticed changes yourself, want to better understand a partner, or are simply curious about what healthy sexuality and intimacy can look like in midlife and beyond, this evening is designed to offer education, perspective and a comfortable place for conversation.
All sexualities, gender identities and relationship structures are welcome. Come alone, with a partner or with friends. Ages 18+.

The 35th
Annual Folks on Spokes &amp; Step Forward Ride + Walk event is planned for Sunday, October 4, 2026, from 8:00 am to 2 pm at Fowler Field in downtown Milford. 
As one of Connecticut’s longest running charitable events, cyclists and walkers come together to raise funds and awareness for mental health and addiction recovery in support of Bridges Healthcare’s services. Participants of all ages can enjoy the scenic Milford coastline by riding 5, 10, 20, or 40 mile routes or walking a 5K. This family-friendly event includes activities for kids, music, lunch, event t-shirts, and a special remembrance ceremony to honor lives lost to suicide and overdose.
Early registration discounts are available through August 31, 2026. From September 1-October 1, 2026 advanced registration fees are $50 per cyclist, $35 per walker, $15 for kids under 18. Children 6 and under are free.

Bring the entire family for a fun-filled day with something for everyone! Kids can enjoy pony rides, train rides, and a 3-Hour Large Group Bubble Show from 12:00–3:00 PM, along with many more fun activities throughout the day.
Come hungry and enjoy delicious food from a wide variety of food trucks, then stroll through the park and visit our many local vendors. After shopping, stop by the Drink Tent, grab a refreshing beverage, sit back and enjoy some great live music!

Bring your sensitive documents to be shredded on-site. Reasonable pricing and easy drive-thru service. STRATFORD ROTARY WILL BE THERE FOR YOUR SHREDDING NEEDS RAIN OR SHINE - 9am - 12pm (or until the truck is full) We also collect Electronics and Battery recycling! Donations requested. 
How it works: 
1. Drive up to the truck and a Rotarian will remove the shredding items from your car and deliver them directly to the shredding truck. You can stay and watch or simply drive away. Shredding occurs on location! 
2. Make your payment to the Rotarian Volunteer. All proceeds go to Stratford Student Scholarships, Grants to local non-profits, and community events ($10 small, $20 Medium, $30 Large Box)
3. Drive away happy and confident your sensitive information is securely destroyed. Shredding Certificates are available upon request. Prices: $10 small bag (grocery Plastic/paper bag) $20 Medium Container (bankers' box) $30 Large Container (Plastic tubs) $100 Fill a shred bin (65gallon rolling trash can at shredding location) All donation proceeds support Student Scholarships, Non-Profit Grants, and Community Events Supported by the Stratford Rotary Club and Foundation.
