As part of their Bold Serenity season, Apollo and CCMH explore the meaning of home and how calm is found amid the cacophony of contemporary life. Dvořák reached his creative peak twice: first by retreating from the hustle and bustle of New York City to a tranquil Czech-speaking farm village in Iowa where he could hear his own language again, and then back home in Bohemia, where he found his voice anew. DOMOV frames that homecoming string quartet with his Gypsy Songs, poems of longing for a home left behind, and closes with "Song to the Moon" from his opera Rusalka and "Songs My Mother Taught Me."
The program features soprano Alicia Gianni, an alumna of the Houston Grand Opera Butler Studio.

In celebration of 43 years of world-famous wings and hospitality, Hooters is rolling out the orange carpet for the women who built the brand. On Sunday, October 4th, every Hooters location across the Lone Star State will host the ultimate reunion - Alumnae Appreciation Day, offering a complimentary meal to former Hooters Girls all day long.

Since opening its original doors in 1983, Hooters has served as a launchpad for more than 450,000 women who have proudly worn the orange shorts. After expanding to Texas in 1989, the brand has grown into a beloved staple across the state. This one-day event serves as both a homecoming and a tribute to the legacy created by its team members over the decades.
With a purchase of a drink, former Hooters Girls dining in on October 4th can select from a curated menu of brand staples:
·10-Piece Traditional Wings
·10-Piece Boneless Wings with Fries
·10-Piece Buffalo Shrimp with Fries
·Hooters Cheeseburger with Fries
·Chicken Caesar Salad
To redeem the offer, alumnae need to present their Alumnae VIP card, Hooters name tag or proof of past employment (such as a pay stub or photo in uniform) upon dining in at any participating Texas location.

"What better way to celebrate our 43rd anniversary than welcoming home the incredible women who built this brand," said Andrea Hill, Executive Vice President of HMC Hospitality Group. "October 4th is about more than just a free meal; it’s a celebration of our legacy. This is the perfect excuse to catch up with old friends, share favorite memories and create new ones. As someone who started my career wearing the orange shorts 25 years ago, I know firsthand how extraordinary the Hooters sisterhood is."

The offer is valid for dine-in only at all Texas Hooters locations on Sunday, October 4th. Restrictions may apply.

Three women veterans and award-winning children’s book authors will join forces for their first-ever Aviation Author Trio appearance at the 42nd CAF Wings Over Houston Airshow, October 31–November 1, 2026.
Graciela Tiscareño-Sato (“Captain Mamá”), Sarah Doran, and Patricia Osborn will bring aviation, military service, STEM, history, and storytelling together for families in the airshow’s Family Chalet.
The airshow will take place from 08:00 to 5:00 p.m.&nbsp;on Oct. 31–Nov. 1.&nbsp;&nbsp; <a href="https://wingsoverhouston.com/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://wingsoverhouston.com/</a>
This year's event is significant as the CAF Wings Over Houston Airshow celebrates America's 250th birthday and welcomes the world-famous U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds as the featured demonstration team. Families from across Texas and beyond will experience thrilling aerial performances while discovering aviation careers, military service opportunities, &amp; STEM education through the interactive exhibit in the Family Chalet.
<h2>WHO</h2>
Graciela is the&nbsp;daughter of Mexican immigrants who became an Air Force aviator. She's the&nbsp;first Latina aviator in the U.S. Air Force to receive an Air Medal for combat air operations. She's an award-winning author, entrepreneur, keynote speaker, and creator of the nationally-recognized Captain Mamá bilingual children's aviation book series. Graciela brings aviation history, STEM education, military service, and bilingual storytelling together to encourage girls and boys to pursue careers in aviation, leadership, public service and entrepreneurship. Visit <a href="https://captainmama.com" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">CaptainMama.com</a>
Family Chalet guests will also be delighted by two Army veterans.&nbsp;
Award-winning author&nbsp;Sarah Doran&nbsp;brings military history to life through heartfelt children’s stories that honor, memorialize, and celebrate the men and women who serve in the U.S. Armed Forces.
Each book includes military history, educational resources, and a STEM activity, making Sarah’s stories useful for families and classrooms throughout the year, including Veterans Day, Women’s History Month, Month of the Military Child, and Memorial Day.
Sarah’s books include:
<ul><li>The Peppered Sky</li><li>Sleeping Giants</li><li>The Fearless and the Fallen</li></ul>

Military &amp; civilian pilot and children's author&nbsp;Patricia Osborn&nbsp;created Huey’s Books to share her love of aviation with the next generation.
Inspired by her own aviation experiences and originally created for her niece, Patricia’s stories introduce children to the many ways military aircraft and their crews serve communities both at home and abroad.
Her Huey’s Books series combines real-world aviation missions with approachable characters and adventure designed to inspire curiosity, courage, service, and a lifelong love of flight.
Titles include:
<ul><li>The Ambulance That Could Fly</li><li>The Fire Truck That Could Fly</li><li>The Spy That Could Fly</li></ul>

<h2>WHAT: “CLEARED FOR STORYTIME”</h2>
The three-author experience will give families the opportunity to meet&nbsp;women who have lived the stories behind the books.
Expect:
<ul><li>Meet-and-greets with the authors</li><li>Signed children’s aviation and military-themed books</li><li>Flight-suit dress-up and photo opportunities</li><li>Conversations about military aviation, STEM, service, &amp; careers</li></ul>
<h2>WHY</h2>
Women remain an important and growing part of the military and aviation communities, yet young people do not always have opportunities to meet women who have personally served, flown, led, and built careers in these fields.
<h2>EDUCATOR OPPORTUNITIES</h2>
Gracefully Global Group created the 11-time award-winning Captain Mamá bilingual aviation book series. This brand has been introducing children to aviation and STEM careers through engaging stories where Mama is an aviator, bilingually since 2013.&nbsp;
These authors create books and experiences that extend into classrooms, libraries, museums, military organizations, and community programs. Ask about:
<ul><li>School assemblies &amp; classroom visits</li><li>Aviation and STEM programming</li><li>Veterans Day, Women in Aviation &amp; Women’s History Month programming</li><li>Military history education</li><li>Writing workshops</li></ul>
Graciela and Sarah will also be presenting aviation-themed school programs in the Houston area in the days before the airshow. Inquire&nbsp;below.&nbsp;&nbsp;
