DGC Sprouts Youth Garden Club's June monthly meeting. Join us to create art in the garden as we celebrate the Summer Solstice!
 Sprouts families are welcome to gather in the garden and create some meaningful art pieces for the garden! We will use some of the recycled materials we have been collecting over the past year to create some beautiful and functional art.
Be ready to get creative! We will be building recycled art pieces, exploring nature art, and having fun expressing our artistic sides!
 Please note, this event will be held outdoors at the Learning Garden at St. John Lutheran Church. In case of inclement weather, enter door 3 for the basement meeting room. Garden tending begins at 5pm, the monthly meeting begins at 6pm.
 NOTES:
All are welcome to attend.
A responsible adult must accompany children.
Please register for one ticket per family participating.

DGC Sprouts - June - Summer Solstice & Garden Art Celebration

Join us as we learn how excessive artificial light harms people and wildlife while gathering tips for softening and reducing such lighting.
This program will detail how excessive use of bright lighting leads to light pollution and an absence of dark skies. Light pollution affects not only our health and well-being, but wildlife as well. Bird safety will be highlighted as an example. Tips to soften and lessen lighting and the benefits of such will be given.
Our speaker Debbie Barrett is a psychologist by day and lover and caretaker of all living things and sentient beings. A lifelong learner, Debbie will share what she has learned about light pollution and dark skies and how we can be better caretakers of the planet by returning to the dark.
Our July 6, 2026 General Meeting will follow the presentation.

Light Pollution-The Impacts and Effects of Overuse of Artificial Lighting

Join the DGC Sprouts Youth Garden Club (July 18 - 10:00 am to 12:00 pm)&nbsp;to explore new tastes and develop your own signature quick pickle recipe using fresh cucumbers from the garden. Participants should bring a container to learn the art of selecting spices and herbs for their own brine. Registration is required via Eventbrite with a suggested $5 cash donation, and all children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
