Come and join us on Monday, September 14th at St. John Lutheran Church (7214 Cass Avenue, Darien, Il 60561) where Denis Kania, who teaches bird identification classes at Morton Arboretum, bird monitoring at Fermilab, and is an all-around bird expert, will be our Darien Garden Club's visiting presenter. All are welcome, Darien Residency is NOT required. Note: The meeting is in hybrid format (in person or via Zoom link).

Darien Garden Club Sprouts families are invited to gather outdoors on September 23 from 5:00pm – 6:00pm in the “Sprouts Learning Garden” at St. John Lutheran Church (7214 Cass Avenue, Darien, Il. 60561) for hands-on lessons on vegetable harvesting! After tending the garden all summer, it’s now time to gather, weigh, and divvy-up the harvest! Then, continue to join us from 6:00pm – 7:00pm for our “Garden Potluck Party.” Bring a dish to share that highlights your favorite fruits or vegetables and a copy of your recipe. Also, be ready to share a fun fact about your favorite plant or animal. Don’t miss out on the good vibes and great company — we can’t wait to see you there!
Note: In case of inclement weather, event will be moved to St. John's basement meeting room (enter using door 3).

We have walk-up education and fun planned for all ages! See details below.
The exhibits at this walk-up event include education, crafts, games and more! Don't leave the kids (squirrels) at home, we have plenty for them to do.
Join in a tree ID tour on the IPPL grounds, test your tree-mendous knowledge. Learn to ID trees based on their bark, their shape, leaf position on the branches, and much more.
Also during this event Master Naturalists from<a href="https://ben.edu/campus-links/jurica-suchy-nature-museum/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener"> Jurica-Suchy Nature Museum </a>will be on hand to provide information on native trees and the wildlife that depend on them. Learn how important Oaks are to our frisky squirrel friends, local birds and their nestlings, and other native wildlife.
Learn to recognize Oak trees, find out why they are so important, and leave this event understanding what you can do to help restore the Oak ecosystem. You may even go home with your very own Oak sapling or learn how to plant an acorn to grow your own tree!
The event will be held in the reading garden and around Keshav’s Garden weather permitting. We will move indoors if needed.

Darien Garden Club Sprouts families are invited to join us for a Halloween Spooktacular event on October 28, 2026, from 6:00pm – 7:00pm at St. John Lutheran Church (7214 S. Cass Avenue, Darien, IL 60561), featuring Incredible Bats, Inc.! Be AMAZED by unique and awesome nocturnal creatures! Learn all about the unique adaptations of bats, rats, scorpions, spiders, snakes and more! Examine live animals up close with the “Incredible Bats” team. They will show us a variety of cool creatures and teach all about what makes them extra special!
Please note, this event will be held indoors at St. John Lutheran Church. Meeting is in the basement fellowship hall. Enter door 3.
Family-friendly Halloween costumes are encouraged! Non-members are welcome to attend and learn more about DGC Sprouts and our upcoming events and programs.

Creating Your Career in the Arts - Kaitlin Fron</li><li>An honest discussion on how to assess and focus on different paths to a career related to music/theatre, and what it looks like to build the life you want while meeting your needs as a human, especially in today's economy. Explore choosing the right degree versus training independently and other paths to consider. Explore how to manage your career and have life balance for all you need to do and all you wish to become on stage!</li><li></li><li>1:00 Stage Physicality and Scene Study - Felicia Pfluger Learn techniques for acting authentically under imaginary circumstances, emotional preparation, and scene creation. In this workshop, students learn to break down script material to understand implicit and explicit meaning with their scene partner. An A Capella, 4-Part Harmony Music Production for All Ages

Fans of high-energy a Capella vocal music will be treated to some of the most talented groups in the Midwest on September 12 as the Chorus of DuPage (COD) hosts "Melodies and Memories” -- a show designed to celebrate classic and contemporary tunes and showcase award-winning barbershop groups for Chicago-area audiences. 
At 3 pm at Naperville's Grace United Methodist Church, 300 E. Gartner Road, several award-winning vocal groups will perform with the popular 30-voice Chorus of DuPage, including Vocal Spectrum -- former Barbershop Harmony Society international quartet champion. Also appearing on the show will be Stiletto Quartet -- the Sing United Midwest Harmony 2026 Quartet Champions, as well as two popular Chicago area quartets, the Upside Downers and Stratosphere.
 "We hope to delight area music lovers with a program that features a diverse mix of top talent, and a musical program theme that showcases music we all know and love," said John Morrison, COD chorus manager. The Naperville-based COD chorus, with members from throughout the Chicago area, will perform hits such as Can’t Take My Eyes Off You,
Yesterday, Daydream, and You’re Nobody ‘til Somebody Loves You
– and other favorites, performed in classic 4-part barbershop harmony style.
 The guest quartets will perform separately, and join the host chorus in a mass chorus number to conclude the show. 
 Tickets are available online or by phone at $20
for adults and $15 for students. Children under 5 are free, if accompanied by an adult. There is ample free parking at the church.
