On Saturday, June 6, Library Director Darren Miguez is hosting an open community conversation about the future of our physical space — and how we can make it work harder for the people who use it.
The focus: study pods. You've told us, in survey after survey, that you want more private space to focus, work, and learn. More than 40% of Plainsboro residents ranked quiet space among the most important things they value about the library. A third want more study and meeting rooms. The single most common request we heard? More comfortable, quiet places to read, write, and study.
Study pods could be one answer. Small, enclosed, private rooms with a desk, good light, and a door that closes. They're popping up in libraries across the country, and we're exploring whether they could work here, in our building, for our community.
But before we decide anything, we want to hear from you.
WHAT TO EXPECT:

Whether you're a daily visitor, an occasional drop-in, a student, a remote worker, a parent, or just curious — you're welcome. Stay for the full conversation or pop in for part of it. Either way, your voice matters here.

What could our library look like? Come help us imagine it.
On Saturday, June 14 at 1 PM, Library Director Darren Miguez is joined by local architect Ed Klimek for an interactive visioning session — a chance to look at libraries from around the world and ask which of their best ideas could work here in Plainsboro.
This isn't a slideshow you sit through. It's a working session.
Ed will walk us through libraries that have built welcoming spaces for quiet work, collaboration, children, teens, and gathering. You'll be invited to react, sketch, share, and ask questions. No experience required — bring your eyes, your curiosity, and your honest sense of what works (and what doesn't) in our building today.

After the main session ends, Ed is sticking around to talk with any teens interested in architecture as a career. Curious about the training, the day-to-day, the wildest building he's ever designed? Bring your questions.
