My priorities are simple and straight-forward; preserve our environment; greatly improve county fire protection; fully fund our Sheriff and District Attorney; expand our parks; and, improve our libraries.<br>Deputy Mayor Roberts said as Supervisor it is important to him to:<br>1.	Improve economic opportunities in San Diego County.<br>2.	Insist on a structurally sound county budget while working to efficiently conduct county business by balancing the budget and preparing for cuts in state funding.<br>3.	Preserve the county's strong financial and capital management to maintain a top bond rating.<br>4.	Enhance the quality of life of all county residents through sustainable grown, well-planned communities, environmental protection and strong public safety.<br>5.	Improve county services and delivery to the public.<br><br>Dave Roberts is a two-term councilmember and Deputy Mayor of the City of Solana Beach. He serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors for the San Diego County Consolidated Transportation Services Agency. A nationally-recognized expert in health care policy, he was appointed in both the Bush and the Obama Administrations to national advisory leadership roles focused on maximizing the cost-effectiveness and delivery of Medicare, Medicaid and Children's Health Insurance Programs. In addition, he helped to create the military's current healthcare system.<br><br>Prior to being elected to the city council, Dave Roberts served on the Friends of the Solana Beach Library and the Solana Beach Budget and Finance Committee. He is a past chairman of the San Dieguito River Park Joint Powers Authority. With his colleagues he helped in the efforts to rebuild the park when over 60 percent was destroyed by the 2007 fires.<br><br>He has served as an Alternate Board member of the San Diego County Polinsky Children's Center. The center houses abused and neglected children.<br><br>With a Master of Public Administration degree in Financial Management, Dave Roberts has put his expertise to work for the citizens of Solana Beach. He has served on the Fiscal Sustainability Subcommittee. He has voted for a balanced budget every year he has been on the council – without eliminating essential services. This is seven years of consistently good financial management.<br><br>While on the North County Transit District Board he has worked tirelessly to reduce fares and expand service. The San Diego County Taxpayers Association recognized the NCTD board, of which he is a member, in 2011 with the Golden Watchdog Award for strong fiscal stewardship.<br><br>Dave Roberts has adopted five children from the county ranging in ages from three to sixteen. He has lived in San Diego County for nearly two decades.
