Sam Bergquist is a Boston-based songwriter, guitarist and harmonica player whose music draws from folk, country, blues and Americana. His songs mix humor with stories about everyday life. Noah Schaffer of WBUR Radio describes his music as a balance of “grit and whimsy”, while Americana Highway says Bergquist has “mapped out a route of his own.” His latest album, Devils & Doves, reached the Top 10 on the Alt-Country charts and Top 25 on the FAI Folk Charts. Sam is playing with cellist and recent Berklee College of Music graduate Celia Seickert. She will add her cello and musical voice to Sam’s songs.
Bergquist leans into his loves of Americana, Acoustic, and Folk music as a means to speak his truth throughout this authentic roots-infused release” – Nyrdcast

Genre-bending Vaudevillian folk songs and tunes. These guys are sooo original and impressive with soaring songs and tunes. “I dare you to listen to Play the Part without a smile on your face. Across the various twists and turns of this adventurous album, Phil Berman and his massive team of Boston-area orchestral talent achieve elements of Edith Piaf, Nora Jones, flamboyant musical theater, and sheer exuberant wit…It should be clear by now that you can’t see around the next corner of this album, but in the very best way. It’s like a wonderful and elaborate hedge maze in which you can’t take a wrong turn…This record has a genuine magnetism and scale that is impossible to anticipate but also impossible to deny…” – Alison Lanier Suggested donation: $25

If you’ve been around the folk scene, you couldn’t miss seeing Mike. Tall, ginger beard, and always around where the music is. He’s been on the scene for many many years, listening to the fine details of what makes this genre of music so special to the soul, so able to make us laugh and cry and think. And lucky for us all, he got serious about having fun at it.Less a singer-songwriter than a singer-songfinder, Mike takes great delight in discovering the little-known hidden gems, polishing them with his own distinctive style, and bringing them to the light of day where they sparkle. He will shift from beautifully contemplative, to uproariously funny, to instrumentally brilliant, to powerfully emotional in the space of a few minutes. Equally at home in the contemporary and traditional camps of the Folk world, he is a fine musician and storyteller. His prime instrument is the guitar, upon which he shines with intricate fingerstyle arrangements of anything from Tin Pan Alley tunes of the ’20s to fiddle tunes to his own music. He also plays concertina, piano, banjo, or sings acapella. The man will capture your attention, and then your heart.Suggested donation: $20
