Historic Trees of Ridgefield will be the topic of the June meeting of the Ridgefield History Club, a free history discussion program of the Ridgefield Historical Society. The program will take place at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at the Scott House, 4 Sunset Lane.
Tom McManus, Chair of the Ridgefield Town Tree Committee, will lead the informal conversation, which focuses on sharing knowledge of Ridgefield’s past and is broadcast live on the Ridgefield Historical Society’s Facebook page for those who can’t attend in person.

Ridgefield History Club: Historic Trees of Ridgefield

West Lane & South Salem Road

The Peter Parley/West Lane District Schoolhouse, now a small museum operated by the Ridgefield Historical Society, will begin its seasonal open houses on Sunday, May 31, from 1 to 4 p.m. Other Sunday open houses will take place June 28, July 26, Aug. 30, Sept. 27 and Oct. 25, from 1 to 4 p.m. Admission to the schoolhouse is free, donations are accepted.
During each open house, guests are invited to tour the one-room school (last used by students in 1915) and learn about how Ridgefield’s district schools were organized and what has become of the structures where 18th, 19th and some 20th Century Ridgefielders received all of their education. Ridgefield Town Historian Jack Sanders and his wife Sally, volunteers with the Historical Society, will be on hand to answer questions.

The Glass House

Enjoy a rare opportunity to explore The Glass House and its grounds during the&nbsp;Golden Hour.&nbsp;This special two-hour guided tour offers a&nbsp;golden-hour experience&nbsp;of the site and its many distinct architectural landmarks. In addition, see how the&nbsp;lighting design by Richard Kelly&nbsp;– a pioneer and master of modern architectural lighting and a collaborator with Philip Johnson and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe –&nbsp;transforms the Glass House&nbsp;as the sun sinks in the sky.
This tour runs&nbsp;two hours&nbsp;in duration and is formulated to facilitate&nbsp;photography for personal use.&nbsp;It includes access to the Glass House, Brick House, Painting Gallery, Sculpture Gallery, and Da Monsta, with a&nbsp;three-quarter mile walk over paved, grass, and gravel paths.

This tour runs&nbsp;rain or shine.&nbsp;All&nbsp;ticket sales are final.&nbsp;No refunds will be issued, but tickets may be transferred to another date or program.
All&nbsp;tours depart from the Glass House Visitor Center + Design Store&nbsp;located at 199 Elm Street, New Canaan, CT 06840. Visitors are transported to the site in a shuttle which departs promptly.
