Plummer Youth Promise

Plummer Youth Promise, located at 37 Winter Island Road in Salem, will celebrate the reopening of the historic Caroline Plummer House and honor the community that made this restoration possible on Saturday, May 2, 2026, from Noon-3:00pm. The schedule is as follows:
11:30am-12:00pm: Guest arrival - General parking for guests will be available on Fort Ave., at the top of Winter Island Rd. A complimentary shuttle service will be provided. The shuttle will run continuously from 11:30 am to 3:00 pm. Accessible parking on-site is limited. 
12:30pm: Program begins 
1:00pm-1:30pm: Refreshments and small bites open to all
1:30pm: Tours open to the public (every 15 minutes led by designated staff)
3:00pm: Event close and final shuttle departures

A Healthy Lynnfield, an active community partnership working hard to prevent substance misuse and to ensure those impacted have the help they need, and The Wakefield Area Chamber of Commerce, are once again organizing the Healthy Living Expo. For the fifth year in a row, the free event, which is open to all community members, will take place on Saturday, May 3rd from Noon – 3:00 p.m. at Lynnfield Town Common. In the event of inclement weather, the event will be held at Lynnfield Middle School.
Attendees will be able to visit with more than 40 health, wellness, and lifestyle vendors to get information and participate in interactive activities, including: health screenings and assessments, personal fitness, nutrition, and lifestyle coaches, mental health resources, and much more. Residents can also make an appointment with the Essex County Sheriff's Department’s CarFit Program who will provide real-time adjustments to the ergonomic set-up of your driver's seat. 
Don’t miss the massive Mega Brain, the world’s only portable, inflatable, walk-through brain exhibit. A tour through this interactive experience starts in the frontal lobe, which is responsible for personality and higher cognitive functions, and continues through the cerebellum, which controls balance and coordination.
Family activities will include:

 <li>Bike Rodeo with Friends of the Lynnfield Rail Trail: 12:30pm and 1:30pm</li>
 <li>Face Painting with A Healthy Lynnfield Youth Council</li>

Northeast Arc, a not-for-profit organization that helps children and adults with disabilities and autism become full participants in the community, will host its 4th annual Spring Market just in time for Mother’s Day shopping 
On Saturday, May 2nd, Northeast Arc will host a Spring Market located in the main hallway of Liberty Tree Mall outside of <a href="https://ne-arc.org/parcels" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">parcels</a>. The market, taking place from 10:00am - 2:00pm, will feature artists and entrepreneurs with disabilities or autism selling their products. This market will feature unique handman and home-grown items, including indoor and outdoor plants, hummus, cakes, cookies, fine art (cards and prints), photography, jewelry, candles, soaps, t-shirts, hats, blankets, pottery, wooden home goods, toys, games, and puzzles, Some artists whose work is on sale in parcels will also be showcasing and selling items that are not available in the store. 
This market is important for the 46 artists with disabilities and autism who are participating for several reasons, including:
<ul>
 <li>Many artists and entrepreneurs with disabilities and autism are not able to participate in similar type markets, primarily due to the length of time those markets operate. An eight-hour market plus the time to pack vehicle, set up, and take down items can be overwhelming.</li>
 <li>By not being able to participate in markets, these artists have a harder time attracting new customers and selling their work.</li>
 <li>This market is designed to increase accessibility by:</li>
 <ul>
 <li>Removing cost barriers. Artists do not have to pay to participate, and they keep 100% of their sales</li>
 <li>Providing a shorter timeframe</li>
 <li>Providing tables and chairs for vendors to limit what they need to bring on site</li>
 </ul>
</ul>
“The Spring Market is the perfect place to shop for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and teacher gifts while supporting people with disabilities and autism,” said Tim Brown, Chief Innovation and Strategy Officer, Northeast Arc.
A highlight of the Spring Market includes the following musical performances: Spectrum of Sound, by the Flutie Foundation (10:30am); ETC All Star Dance, by Till, Inc. (Noon); Frankie Bonsignore (1:00pm), and DJ Jazzy Jacob spinning tunes throughout the day.

for CancerCare will celebrate its 27th anniversary on Sunday, May 3, 2026, as it continues to support local cancer patients in need.
TeamWalk 2026 will start and finish at The Tsongas Center at UMass Lowell. Pre-walk festivities will once again be co-hosted by Cindy Fitzgibbon, Chief Meteorologist at WCVB Channel 5, and Lori Grande from WBZ News Radio 1030.
In 2000, TeamWalk for CancerCare started with 1,800 walkers who raised $280,000 for cancer patients in the Merrimack Valley. Since then, it has grown to become the largest single-day fundraiser in the Merrimack Valley, raising more than $16 million and touching the lives of more than 44,000 cancer patients and their families.
This year’s honorary event chairs are Dr. William O’Meara, Medical Director for Radiation Oncology, at Lowell General Hospital’s Cancer Center, and Tom Kinneman of North Andover, a patient Dr. O’Meara treated in 2021.

Breath and Line continues our multi sensory, accessible series “Notes on Belonging”. As the music unfolds, visual artists respond in real time, tracing the contours and phrasing of the performance. The result is an immersive exploration of breath, movement, and line.

Charlestown-born Steve Sweeney is known as the "undisputed King of Boston comedy“, the embodiment of the city he calls home, a local guy who has become a nationally recognizable talent.
Sweeney is known not only as a headlining comedian, but also through his many memorable TV and movie appearances. During the early 1970s, a small group of Boston 'would-be' comedians performed regularly at a comedy club started by Martin Olson and Barry Crimmins in a back room of the Chinese restaurant, Ding-Ho, near Inman Square in Cambridge, MA. This group also included such unknowns as Lenny Clarke, Kevin Meaney, Jay Leno, Bobcat Goldthwait, Bill Sohonage, and Steven Wright. Steve stood out from the crowd by incorporating his great insight into the New England political scene into his act.
He was the first of the Boston super-stars to break into television, appearing on "Park Street Under," a Boston based sitcom that many believe was the inspiration for the highly successful television show "Cheers." He's also been on "Late Night with David Letterman," "Evening at The Improv" and "Comics Come Home." You might remember his small but hilarious parts in films such as Rodney Dangerfield's "Back to School," Judd Apatow's "Celtic Pride," and "There's Something About Mary" with Ben Stiller.

A branding and design specialist by trade, Jeff studied at Carnegie Mellon, worked in Boston and London for many years, and co-founded and ran Catapult Thinking from 2000 – 2015. 
Following a stroke during a triple by-pass in 2015, Jeff’s recovery process was long and difficult, bolstered by refocusing on the more artistic side of himself. He found his love of fine art again and has enjoyed honing his skills over the past six years. Despite having to relearn many things with his less dominant side, he now draws with his right hand and paints with his left. Jeff’s main challenge remains language retrieval (Aphasia).
