Chef Hinnerk von Bargen&nbsp;— associate professor at the Culinary Institute of America and author of&nbsp;Street Foods— brings the vibrant, globe-trotting spirit of his book to life with an evening of street food stalls. Inspired by the book's exploration of global cuisines and cultures, from Italian street fairs to beachfront fish tacos to spicy Asian noodles, each stall celebrates the unique history and cultural tradition of beloved portable foods from around the world. It's a festive midweek feast for the senses.

Chelsea Music Festival celebrates great music by convening world-leading musicians &amp; artists in the performing, culinary, and visual arts for an international audience. Celebrating a decade of radical performance and embodied experimentation,&nbsp;Queer Butoh Festival&nbsp;returns to New York City with four evenings of interdisciplinary performance exploring the evolving landscape of Butoh in NYC and beyond. This year’s festival brings together local and international artists from Mexico, Belgium, South Korea, Singapore, Chile, and across the United States, highlighting Butoh as a global and ever-evolving art form rooted in transformation, experimentation, and radical presence.

Says the choreographer, who has been publicly out as a queer artist since he began showing his work professionally in New York circa 1995:

ABOUT DANIEL GWIRTZMAN DANCE COMPANY
Daniel Gwirtzman Dance Company, known for its optimistic ethos, was formed in 1998. Since its inception, it has demonstrated a commitment to education, operating with the philosophy and programming that everyone can join the dance. Incorporating dance and story into the film medium has been a consistent practice along with creating original programming for the stage. The repertory has earned praise for its humor, musicality, stylistic diversity, and accessibility. The Company’s acclaimed creation, “Dance With Us,” a free online educational resource, received leadership support from the Rockefeller Brothers Fund and is designed to demystify choreography and increase comfort viewing and speaking about dance. The digital resource showcases the Company’s decade-long practice working in the dance for camera genre. During Upstate Arts Weekend, Kaatsbaan is holding Open Hours for the 2026 Visual Art Exhibition,&nbsp;Earthly Delights. The artistic works in the exhibition evoke planets, plants, insects, and other biological forms that erupt out of the mystical Kaatsbaan landscape. These unique pieces created by nine contemporary artists working predominantly in the Hudson Valley offer an inspiring alchemy of structure, form, beauty, and soul. The exhibition is curated by&nbsp;Hilary Greene.
This season,&nbsp;Aurora Robson&nbsp;returns with a tree-climbing, recycled-plastic installation new to Kaatsbaan. Joining her,&nbsp;Ian McMahon’s barn-mounted geometric relief, and&nbsp;Portia Munson’s mystical banner are six new artists:&nbsp;Thea Berman’s figurative oils and&nbsp;Sharon Broit’s biological abstracts in the gallery;&nbsp;Laura Battle’s esoteric ceramic clouds,&nbsp;Kris Perry’s machine creatures, and a spiritual carving by&nbsp;Nadia Yaron&nbsp;on the grounds; and sensorial videos by&nbsp;Virginia L. Montgomery&nbsp;mounted in the Stanford White Barn. In addition, we are honored to continue to exhibit two of&nbsp;Gaston Lachaise’s world-renowned bronzes on long-term loan by the Lachaise Foundation.
The exhibition is open to the public June 6–October 31, 2026, during business hours and event days.

In Circle of Apathy, the new dance project from House of DOV featuring live music from Family Junket, the ensemble explores the cycles of growth and disintegration intrinsic to nature and works together to build physical structures which increase in precarity as the group strives toward expansion.
“Through creative process, we’ve sought to understand our own place within the greater ecology of our landscape, and to experience the human body as a metaphor and microcosm of the natural world,” says Drew Lewis, creative director of House of DOV.
Family Junket’s five musicians blare dense soul with moments of ambience: voices wail, altered by a vocal pedal; saxophone, flute and violin harmonize over precomposed loops; djembe, drum kit and percussion punctuate echoing acoustic piano. House of DOV’s seven dancers push against seemingly immovable forces, find new hand and footholds, and creep forward like a vine up a brick wall. A woman walks through an increasingly dense wood until the brush closes around her entirely. When all paths disappear from sight, a figure steps blindly forward, trusting that there will be a stepping stone beneath their foot.

Family Junket is the collective voice of Chicago-based musicians who are also social workers, teachers, farmers, dancers, writers, painters, photographers, and performance artists coming together to create healing spaces, community, and parties. As a band, they play lush, unpredictable compositions featuring horns, strings, percussion, vocal interplay, and an improvisational spirit. Their debut album, Did you tell the bees?, released May 2025 with features in the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Reader, and City Cast Chicago (WBEZ).
House of DOV is a movement-based performance ensemble from Chicago, IL, led by Drew Lewis. Our namesake is Benjamin Dov Lebowitz, Drew’s ancestor who immigrated to America from Russia in the early 1900’s, escaping pogroms. The ensemble exists as a vehicle to explore Drew’s own creative work and heritage, and to provide talented yet under-represented Chicago dancers with opportunities for paid work in performance and practice. Our vision is of a dance field that celebrates diversity of genre, body-type, race and gender, and our mission is to be a changemaker in the local dance conversation while engaging with global discourse through touring.
Since its inaugural performance at the Adler Planetarium (Finalist for the Chicago Reader’s Best of 2021) House of DOV has performed throughout Chicago including at Fulton Street Collective, Chicago Danztheatre Ensemble, and Navy Pier (among many more venues). Paul Collins&nbsp;is an artist and teacher in Nashville, TN. Paul has an MFA from Yale University and has been a resident at Skowhegan, the MacDowell Colony, Anderson Ranch Arts Center, Hambidge Center, and the Vermont Studio Center. Paul teaches at Austin Peay State University.
Paul is an advocacy publisher developing public art projects that celebrate the diverse stories that make my community specific, real, and magnificent.
Current ongoing projects include @unbannablelibrary and @unzinenashville. And, of course, drawing: I'm always going somewhere and drawing to try to learn &amp; figure things out.&nbsp;The Unbannable Library&nbsp;is a community effort to fight censorship and intimidation in our libraries. Teams of artists, writers, teachers, librarians, and students are joining forces to create larger-than-life interactive book sculptures based on banned books and original written works of singular voice and experience. Designed for display and use at libraries everywhere, this rich collection of interactive book sculptures is literally TOO BIG to ban.
The result of collaborations between local artists, writers, teachers, students, and community members, these unique larger-than-life books employ text and image to draw attention to the voices and stories subject to censorship. In 2024 and 2025, this exhibition spanned a dozen sites across Middle Tennessee, New York, and Kentucky to allow wide access for viewers to experience and interact with the voices of those affected by book bans. This special performance, featuring soprano Elizabeth Dabney and baritone Thomas Meglioranza, accompanied by an ensemble from the Knickerbocker Chamber Orchestra, cover the 11-year period when, except for intermittent visits home, John Adams was abroad raising money for the American revolutionaries and Abigail Adams was tending their homestead. “A Distant Love” renders the flavor of this extraordinary couple’s time apart based on the extensive correspondence of these two “dearest friends;” their passions, hopes, doubts and anxieties; their complexities and half-hidden emotions; their most intimate thoughts.

Founded in 2008, the Knickerbocker Chamber Orchestra (KCO) brings outstanding orchestral and chamber music performances and educational programs to the downtown community, incorporating the area’s rich history into innovative presentations through collaboration with acclaimed soloists, choral, dance and literary organizations.
Past highlights of the KCO’s presentations include the world premiere at the World Financial Center Winter Garden of Mr. Fagin’s composition “And Bold to Fall Withal (Henry Hudson in The New World)”, featuring Broadway star Jason Danieley in 2010, and the 2011 world premiere of Mr. Fagin’s “Robert Moses Astride New York,” also at the Winter Garden, featuring Rinde Eckert. Jim Vines&nbsp;and&nbsp;Carl Mercurio&nbsp;have each been performing magic all their lives, and they met 10 years ago when they were both booked to perform in the same magic-variety show in Coney Island. Jim and Carl became friends and started performing together in venues throughout the tristate area, eventually collaborating on a family magic show, which debuted in 2022 at the North Fork Community Theatre in Long Island.
Fast forward to May 2024, when Jim was on a phone call with Richard Brooks, the head talent booker for the Broadway Comedy Club and Greenwich Village Comedy Club. Rich mentioned that while there were a variety of great magic shows in New York City, he had noticed something was missing—a big family-friendly event that could be enjoyed by kids, parents, friends, and anyone looking for a feel-good outing. Rich suggested that a family magic show in Midtown that brings families together for an unforgettable experience filled with joy, laughter, and wonder could be a hit. Jim told Rich about the family magic show that he and Carl were already performing and mentioned that they had been looking for the perfect venue in which to regularly present the show. Rich was enthusiastic. It was meant to be! In a moment of inspiration, Jim and Carl came up with the name The Broadway Magic Hour. Now it was time to put it on the historic Broadway Comedy Club stage. The NYC debut of the Broadway Magic Hour took place on Saturday, August 3, 2024 - and to everyone's delight, the show quickly sold out. They followed up by adding more dates, and every show had a full house, proving that the city truly needed this show. A few months later, Time Out NY rated The Broadway Magic Hour as one of the Best Off-Broadway Shows for Kids &amp; Families, as well as one of the Best Magic Shows in NYC.

This workshop is dedicated to fostering a conversation about the structure of musicals, not only for writers but also for producers, directors, and everyone involved in the creation and production of new works. Each workshop will accept up to nine writing teams and/or producers who will share works in progress and get feedback from a panel of expert evaluators. Audience members will also have a chance to offer their observations and participate in discussions.

In this first feedback workshop, "Part 1: The World and the Want," we will focus on two main aspects of your show: 1) the opening number (or any number that invites the audience into the world of the show and sets the storytelling rules); and 2) the songs and scenes in which you introduce your characters and invite us to follow their journey. We will discuss "I want" songs, "I am" songs, and "I feel" songs, and the function of each, with special attention to the way they move the action. In addition, we will continually explore the delicate balance between script and song, so it is important that you present a continuous portion of scene and song from your show.

All writers are expected to be in attendance for the entire day.

Summer Mix, an accessible, entertaining program of dance, combines the old with the new, a visual playlist bringing together favorites from the repertory with a premiere. The mix includes joyful excerpts from the Company’s acclaimed evening-length theatrical dance&nbsp;Encore, which premiered at New York City’s Joyce SoHo in 2007 and has never fallen out of the repertory. Each performance will be followed by a brief conversation with the Company, offering audiences the opportunity to engage directly with the dancers and choreographer.
“The dancers can’t help but smile,” wrote&nbsp;The New Yorker&nbsp;reviewing the show. "It's great to see imaginative dancing to music like this," wrote&nbsp;The Village Voice. Backstage&nbsp;called the work "a riotous piece of razzle-dazzle entertainment."
The new work,&nbsp;Flashpoint, was developed during an invitation-only residency at the American Dance Festival in Durham, NC during the summer or 2024.&nbsp;Flashpoint&nbsp;explores the contours of relationships, the push and pull of harmony and strife within our lives, and the lines separating intimacy from violence. The dance traces the contours of relationships, exposing moments that pivot on a dime and ignite into conflict, a metaphor for the tensions and drama playing out in our world.
Like a sultry summer storm, the program moves through darkness and sun, turbulence and clear skies, all anchored by the Company's signature blend of provocative choreography and charismatic performance: virtuosic and pedestrian movement, intimate partnering, a playful musical spirit, and vivid expression.&nbsp;Summer Mix&nbsp;has something for everyone, the program that summer calls for!

One of Coward’s rarely produced early dramas, This Was a Man explores themes that would come to define much of his work: social performance, morality, jealousy, repression, and the fragility beneath upper-class sophistication. The play follows Edward Churt, a successful painter whose carefully composed world begins to fracture as he confronts his wife Carol’s infidelity. While Edward attempts to maintain an air of elegant detachment, his closest life-long friend becomes determined to force a reckoning that threatens to upend them all.
Sharp, psychologically probing, and surprisingly modern, This Was a Man asks enduring questions about masculinity, emotional repression, and the limits of civility. What happens when good manners become a mask for pain? Is it nobler to ignore betrayal or confront it directly? And what, ultimately, does it mean to be a man?
“The play was first mentioned to me by my godmother Hermione Gingold, for whom we named our company”, says Gingold Artistic Director David Staller. “She had begun her stage career with Noel Coward when they were both children. Writing this play, and its initial rejection, altered the trajectory of his entire life, she explained. We’ve determined to share the play with New York for its first hearing in 100 years!”

Founded in 2006 by David Staller, GTG has carved a permanent niche for the work of George Bernard Shaw within the social and cultural life of New York City, and, through the Project Shaw reading series, made history in 2009 as the first company ever to present performances of every one of Shaw's 65 plays (including full-length works, one-acts and sketches). GTG brings together performers, critics, students, academics and the general public with the opportunity to explore and perform theatrical work inspired by the humanitarian and activist values that Shaw championed. All comedies, these plays boldly exhibit the insight, wit, passion and all-encompassing socio-political focus that distinguished Shaw as one of the most inventive and incisive writers of all time.

ABOUT THE PLAYERS
Founded in 1888 by Edwin Booth, New York’s legendary private club, The Players, has long served as a historic hub for New York City’s theatrical community. Located at 16 Gramercy Park South, the club has hosted generations of performances, readings, and cultural gatherings. Vangeline Theater/New York Butoh Institute has partnered with ELF and the legendary New York artist Machine Dazzle to create MAN WOMAN, a collaboration between Butoh dancers Akihito Ichihara (Sankai Juku) and Vangeline.

Ichihara and Vangeline have developed MAN WOMAN during New York residencies at the New York Butoh Institute, Chelsea Factory, Monira Foundation, and Mercury Store in 2024.

Machine Dazzle has created original costumes for this 60-minute piece and Ray Barragan Sweeten has composed the music.

MAN WOMAN is a 60-minute interdisciplinary Butoh duet about the search for intimacy and the complexities of human connection. Choreographed and performed by acclaimed Butoh artists Akihito Ichihara (Japan) and Vangeline (U.S.), the work draws inspiration from the seminal 1960 photo book Man and Woman by Japanese photographer Eikoh Hosoe, which featured Tatsumi Hijikata—the founder of Butoh—and his wife, Motofuji.
 
Ichihara and Vangeline each come from different Butoh backgrounds; Ichihara from Sankai Juku, or what could be considered “classical” Butoh, while Vangeline’s 20 years of Butoh expertise was informed by her prior experience as a jazz and burlesque dancer. The artists imagine this encounter as cultural cross-pollination: the creation of something new and original choreographically, challenging aesthetic expectations and carrying Butoh into the 21st century.

ABOUT THE BROADWAY MAGIC HOUR
Jim Vines&nbsp;and&nbsp;Carl Mercurio&nbsp;have each been performing magic all their lives, and they met 10 years ago when they were both booked to perform in the same magic-variety show in Coney Island. Jim and Carl became friends and started performing together in venues throughout the tristate area, eventually collaborating on a family magic show, which debuted in 2022 at the North Fork Community Theatre in Long Island.
Fast forward to May 2024, when Jim was on a phone call with Richard Brooks, the head talent booker for the Broadway Comedy Club and Greenwich Village Comedy Club. Rich mentioned that while there were a variety of great magic shows in New York City, he had noticed something was missing—a big family-friendly event that could be enjoyed by kids, parents, friends, and anyone looking for a feel-good outing. Rich suggested that a family magic show in Midtown that brings families together for an unforgettable experience filled with joy, laughter, and wonder could be a hit. Jim told Rich about the family magic show that he and Carl were already performing and mentioned that they had been looking for the perfect venue in which to regularly present the show. Rich was enthusiastic. It was meant to be! In a moment of inspiration, Jim and Carl came up with the name The Broadway Magic Hour. Now it was time to put it on the historic Broadway Comedy Club stage. The NYC debut of the Broadway Magic Hour took place on Saturday, August 3, 2024 - and to everyone's delight, the show quickly sold out. They followed up by adding more dates, and every show had a full house, proving that the city truly needed this show. A few months later, Time Out NY rated The Broadway Magic Hour as one of the Best Off-Broadway Shows for Kids &amp; Families, as well as one of the Best Magic Shows in NYC.
