Doug Ose, Neighbor

Doug Ose is a local business owner and former Member of Congress. His personal integrity, vision, dedication to taxpayers and fiscal accountability have shaped his life as a public servant and community leader.

When he was first elected to Congress in 1998, Ose promised to serve three consecutive terms and return to private life. While many made a similar promise, Doug was one of the few to honor this pledge.

During his Congressional career, Ose served on the Government Reform Committee, Agriculture Committee and the Financial Services Committee. For his work in Congress, Ose was named a Hero of the Taxpayers by Americans for Tax Reform, a Guardian of Small Business by the National Federation of Independent Business and honored by several other groups for his patriotism, integrity and devotion to public service.

After leaving Congress, Ose returned to the family business and continues to serve his community. In 2011, he assumed operations of Gibson Ranch Regional Park as a public-private partnership. Once one of the most beautiful and popular public parks of the Sacramento County Regional Park System, Gibson Ranch had been closed and allowed to deteriorate due to a lack of funding. When Sacramento County needed a private operator, Ose was the only one willing to take on the challenge. After guiding Gibson Ranch’s rebuilding and rejuvenation, public use of the park has increased dramatically to more than 100,000 visitors per year.
