Step back in time and join us for a special annual church service where we honor the legacy of some of the earliest settlers in the area! We will have a worship service in Old Trappe Church built in 1743. Special Guest preacher Rev. Karl Krueger will be delivering a homily on our heritage. Following the service, a luncheon and presentation entitled, “Baking for Freedom: Christoph Ludwig, A Lutheran Patriot”, will be delivered. All are welcome - hope to see you there!
Christoph Ludwig, often spelled Ludwick, was a German‑American patriot. Born in Hesse-Darmstadt and trained as a baker, Ludwig settled in Philadelphia and became a trusted leader among the city’s German-speaking community. 
During the Revolutionary War, Congress appointed him “Superintendent of Bakers for the Continental Army”. Refusing personal profit, Ludwig insisted on fair rations for soldiers and became known for his reliability and loyalty to the American cause. Washington called him his “honest friend.” Thanks to Ludwig, thousands of soldiers received daily bread, which often made the difference between endurance and collapse. 
In his will, he left money to help poor children attend school, showing his dedication to education. His legacy continues through the Christopher Ludwick Foundation, which upholds his mission in 2026. 
When Ludwig died in 1801, he was buried in the churchyard of St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Germantown.

The catalog includes furniture by Pennsylvania House, Henkel Harris, Unique Furniture Makers, Ethan Allen, and L. Hitchcock, along with decorative and tabletop pieces from Royal Doulton, Wedgwood, Gorham, Lenox, Dansk, Heisey, and Byers’ Choice.
Furniture is a major category throughout the sale, including a Pennsylvania House illuminated hexagonal curio cabinet, Pennsylvania House painted desk with hutch and chair, Henkel Harris solid cherry Queen Anne end table, Henkel Harris Virginia Galleries silver chest, and multiple solid cherry bedroom pieces by Unique Furniture Makers, including a chest-on-chest dresser and matching nightstands. Additional furniture includes an Ethan Allen upholstered camelback loveseat, Queen Anne style dining furniture, console tables, sideboards, hutches, entertainment centers, end tables, occasional furniture, and traditional bedroom furnishings.
Decorative arts include Royal Doulton Williamsburg figurines, Royal Doulton Toby mugs, and additional ceramic pieces. Chinese decorative arts are also well represented, including Rose Medallion porcelain, Famille Rose porcelain, Chinese ceramic foo dogs, blue and white chinoiserie ceramics, and Chinese figural pieces. Additional decorative items include brass accessories, copperware, mirrors, framed textile works, and household display pieces.
Glass and tableware categories include Heisey Orchid crystal stemware, etched crystal coupe stemware, cut crystal serving pieces, Wedgwood and Gorham crystal and glass vessels, Lenox china, Dansk botanical plates, fine china tea services, and assorted silver and silverplate tableware. Dining and entertaining accessories appear throughout the catalog, with both formal serving pieces and decorative tabletop items represented.
Artwork includes multiple still life paintings by William R. Tompkins, watercolor works by John Eves, floral watercolors by Ineke Van Werkhoven, and quilt art by Carol Schmitz. Decorative prints, framed textile works, and additional wall décor appear throughout the sale.
