Celebrating the 250th Anniversary of the American Revolution

INTENT

A clash of beliefs. Personal betrayals. Historic consequences.
By Mona Z. Smith | Directed by Traci Mariano

INTENT is inspired by one of the most famous espionage plots in American history. In the play, the true story of the famous British spy, Major John André, is interwoven with the fictional story of Katje, a widowed tavern worker whose son joined the rebellion and is now missing in action. Set in a time when our nation was divided against itself in a deadly clash of convictions, this play explores the intersection between high-stakes politics and the raw grief of families losing fathers, brothers, and sons to a relentless, brutal war.

Merchant Cash Defense Attorney in New York
Did a merchant cash advance (MCA) funder sue your business in New York, name you personally as a guarantor, or freeze your business bank account? The first step is to identify what happened and when you must respond. A lawsuit, a default judgment, and a bank restraint call for different legal actions.
Call Credible Law at (888) 201-0441 for a case review. Have your MCA agreement, court papers, and any bank notice available when you call.

New York MCA Defense: Frequently Asked Questions

I was served with an MCA summons. How long do I have to respond? The deadline depends on the court papers and how you were served. Do not rely on a general deadline you found online. Ask a New York litigation attorney to review the summons promptly; missing the applicable deadline can put you at risk of a default judgment.
Can an MCA funder freeze my business bank account? A funder with a judgment may use New York collection procedures that restrain an account. Ask the bank for the restraint or levy paperwork, creditor name, case number, and amount held. Whether the restraint can be challenged depends on the judgment, account ownership, service history, and other facts. Read our New York MCA bank freeze and marshal levy guide.
Can I be sued personally if my business signed the MCA? Possibly, if you signed a personal guarantee. What you guaranteed, what allegedly triggered liability, and where the funder may sue all require review. Living outside New York does not automatically end a regular lawsuit filed there. See our guide to New York MCA personal guarantees for out-of-state owners.
Can a lawyer challenge the MCA agreement or negotiate the debt? An attorney may examine the contract’s reconciliation terms, payment history, alleged default, service of process, and any guarantee. Depending on those facts, the options may include defending the suit, contesting enforcement, requesting appropriate court relief, or negotiating a resolution. No particular defense or outcome is guaranteed.
What should I do before calling? Save the summons and complaint, MCA contract, guarantee, bank notices, ACH records, reconciliation requests, and communications with the funder. Note when and how each court paper was delivered.
Credible Law connects business owners with independent attorneys handling MCA disputes involving Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, Staten Island, Long Island, Westchester, Rockland County, Buffalo, Rochester, and other New York courts. Served, sued, or unable to access your business account? Call (888) 201-0441 now for a case review.
