Three women veterans and award-winning children’s book authors will join forces for their first-ever Aviation Author Trio appearance at the 42nd CAF Wings Over Houston Airshow, October 31–November 1, 2026.
Graciela Tiscareño-Sato (“Captain Mamá”), Sarah Doran, and Patricia Osborn will bring aviation, military service, STEM, history, and storytelling together for families in the airshow’s Family Chalet.
The airshow will take place from 08:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Oct. 31–Nov. 1. https://wingsoverhouston.com/
This year's event is significant as the CAF Wings Over Houston Airshow celebrates America's 250th birthday and welcomes the world-famous U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds as the featured demonstration team. Families from across Texas and beyond will experience thrilling aerial performances while discovering aviation careers, military service opportunities, & STEM education through the interactive exhibit in the Family Chalet.

WHO

Graciela is the daughter of Mexican immigrants who became an Air Force aviator. She's the first Latina aviator in the U.S. Air Force to receive an Air Medal for combat air operations. She's an award-winning author, entrepreneur, keynote speaker, and creator of the nationally-recognized Captain Mamá bilingual children's aviation book series. Graciela brings aviation history, STEM education, military service, and bilingual storytelling together to encourage girls and boys to pursue careers in aviation, leadership, public service and entrepreneurship. Each book includes military history, educational resources, and a STEM activity, making Sarah’s stories useful for families and classrooms throughout the year, including Veterans Day, Women’s History Month, Month of the Military Child, and Memorial Day.
Sarah’s books include:

The Peppered Sky

Sleeping Giants

The Fearless and the Fallen

Military & civilian pilot and children's author Patricia Osborn created Huey’s Books to share her love of aviation with the next generation.
Inspired by her own aviation experiences and originally created for her niece, Patricia’s stories introduce children to the many ways military aircraft and their crews serve communities both at home and abroad.
Her Huey’s Books series combines real-world aviation missions with approachable characters and adventure designed to inspire curiosity, courage, service, and a lifelong love of flight.
Titles include:

The Ambulance That Could Fly

The Fire Truck That Could Fly

The Spy That Could Fly

WHAT: “CLEARED FOR STORYTIME”

The three-author experience will give families the opportunity to meet women who have lived the stories behind the books.
Expect:

Meet-and-greets with the authors

Signed children’s aviation and military-themed books

Flight-suit dress-up and photo opportunities

Conversations about military aviation, STEM, service, & careers

WHY

Women remain an important and growing part of the military and aviation communities, yet young people do not always have opportunities to meet women who have personally served, flown, led, and built careers in these fields.

EDUCATOR OPPORTUNITIES

Gracefully Global Group created the 11-time award-winning Captain Mamá bilingual aviation book series. This brand has been introducing children to aviation and STEM careers through engaging stories where Mama is an aviator, bilingually since 2013.
These authors create books and experiences that extend into classrooms, libraries, museums, military organizations, and community programs. Ask about:

School assemblies & classroom visits

Aviation and STEM programming

Veterans Day, Women in Aviation & Women’s History Month programming

Military history education

Writing workshops

Graciela and Sarah will also be presenting aviation-themed school programs in the Houston area in the days before the airshow. Inquire below.
