Drawing from her contribution to The Unforgettables by Charles C. Eldredge—a volume that brings together leading scholars to celebrate overlooked artists—Dr. Kuykendall will highlight Richardson’s place in art history and examine why rediscovering these voices matters today.

IF Theatre: Home of the IndyFringe Festival

In a powerhouse one-night-only concert, Hedwig takes to the stage to smash the fourth wall and rock the house. Hedwig, an East German rock ’n’ roll goddess, happens to be the victim of a botched sex-change operation, which has left her with an “angry inch.” Hedwig (née Hansel) explains her story in the form of a rock gig/stand-up comedy routine, backed by a hard-rocking band called “The Angry Inch.” Through songs and monologues, Hedwig tells her story, which began in the former East Berlin, to a Kansas trailer park, and right to the Indianapolis stage. Through head-banging anthems and heartfelt rock ballads, Hedwig describes her life’s search for “The Origin of Love” and a reunion with her other half. It’s a rocking ride – funny, touching, and ultimately inspiring to anyone who feels life gave them an inch when they deserved a mile.

Enjoy these openings: In the Harrison Gallery, Vestige by Eric Lubrick. This show features over 90 photographs and a multimedia inflatable sculpture inspired by 17th-century Dutch still lifes and contemporary artists like Wayne Thiebaud and Harold Edgerton. Through four series, Lubrick explores technology, miscommunication, and their impact on modern relationships and connection.
In the Gallery Annex, Color and Flow by Bekah Pollard. Pollard combines site-responsive textile installations and acrylic paintings that explore touch, movement, and presence. In the Hank &amp; Dolly’s Gallery, Sitting, waiting, watching, dreaming by Brittany Murray. This series of acrylic paintings on canvas explores daydreaming through bright colors and exaggeration. Inspired by quiet moments spent in a yard of dandelions watching storm clouds roll in and pass, each piece captures a soft sense of wonder and imagination.
In the Underground Gallery, Momentos by Hector Del Campo. This exhibition of mixed media works investigates personal moments of life and memory. These paintings take on the multiple aspects of being a Cuban American child in a world that differs from mî casa. By bringing together moments and memories that resonate and create a connecting point to his viewers.
In the Sky Gallery, IMMERSION by Jason Zickler. Attention, aspiring young chefs! Grab your aprons and get ready to dive into the kitchen in our upper-level summer camp. Campers will whip up exciting new recipes, hone their skills with kitchen appliances, and explore techniques to expand their culinary palates.

Turn your imagination into wearable art! In this hands-on workshop, you’ll craft a copper or brass pendant using Precious Metal Clay (PMC)—a moldable clay made of real metal particles that transform into solid metal when kiln-fired. Learn how to cut, texture, and layer your piece while working with the clay in both its wet and green (dry) stages. Finished pendants will be kiln-fired by the instructor and ready to pick up the following week.
All tools, supplies, and safety gear will be provided; please wear clothing you don’t mind getting dirty. Preregistration is preferred; limited walk-in tickets may be available—please call ahead.

Precious Metal Clay Workshop: Copper & Bronze Pendants 

June 12; 6–8 p.m. | Center Building, Indiana Room Cost: $28 | Member Discounts Apply | Ages 21+ Join Chris Flook, local historian, author, and senior lecturer in the Department of Media at Ball State University, for a journey along the White River through Muncie’s past. Beginning with the Lenape settlement of the 1790s, the program traces the river’s role in the agricultural village of the 1830s and the industrial city that followed. Along the way are stories of prosperous mills, devastating floods and towering levees, pollution and recovery, grand bridges, and long-standing myths set straight. Guests are invited to see familiar places in a new way while enjoying delicious appetizers. Preregistration is preferred; limited walk-in tickets may be available—please call ahead. This program has been made possible through a grant from Indiana Humanities and the National Endowment for the Humanities.
