<ul><li>SPACE900: A Thousand Cuts. Evanston artist James Deeb presents a pop-up art exhibition the first weekend of October at Space 900 Gallery. Entitled A Thousand Cuts, it features twenty paintings and drawings, many of which are being shown for the first time. <ul><li>Northminster Presbyterian Church Tower Gallery: Based on the book Lilies of Gaza – Women Artists in the Time of War, this beautifully curated show unveils intimate life stories and artistic journeys of women who have faced war, loss, and displacement – yet chose to resist through art. Each artist’s story captures moments of pain and perseverance, and together their voices form a collective testimony of survival, hope and artistic defiance in the face of devastation. Lilies of Gaza comes to Northminster through Bright Stars of Bethlehem, a U.S. nonprofit which raises awareness and support for Dar al-Kalima University, the first and only university for arts, culture, and design in all of Palestine. Explore the power of artificial intelligence in everyday life—join Lake Forest College professors Dr. Benjamin Zeller and Dr. Rachel Whidden for the return of this highly-acclaimed community engagement series
Artificial Intelligence and Everyday Life: Understanding, Engaging, and Applying AI
Registration fee: $450 for the five-week series
Registration deadline: Thursday, October 8
Course times: Thursday evenings, 6-8:30 p.m.
Course dates: October 15, October 22, October 29, November 5, November 12
Artificial Intelligence is rapidly changing how we learn, work, create, communicate, and make decisions. Held at the historic Krebs Center for the Humanities, this five-week series offers an accessible introduction to AI while exploring the ethical, social, cultural, and philosophical questions it raises – through demonstrations, discussion, and real-world case studies designed to help participants become informed and thoughtful users of these emerging technologies. Each week will highlight a new topic and begin with a social reception featuring food and refreshments.
Both the educational content and social receptions will offer opportunities to build community, engage with College leadership, and learn more about ongoing campus initiatives.
