FACES, Neighbor
- Falmouth, MA
FACES (the Falmouth Association Concerned with Estuaries and Salt ponds) is a small, non-profit organization in Falmouth. We recognize the many benefits that our ponds and estuaries bring to us: they filter pollutants and purify our water supplies; provide flood control; stabilize our shorelines; provide habitat to countless plants and animals; and are a major source of recreation and tourist funds coming into the town each year.
At FACES, we have several goals: (1) to educate and encourage citizens to preserve the environment and natural resources of the estuaries, bays, salt ponds and surface freshwaters of Falmouth, Massachusetts; (2) to combat and prevent pollution of these water bodies through consultation with environmental scientists and engineers, and study of existing conditions; (3) to publicize problem areas via meetings, member newsletters and newspaper releases; (4) to alert local and state officials to the need for corrective measures; (5) and to mobilize community support.
