Join us for a heartwarming and hilarious showing of the 2013 film&nbsp;No Se Aceptan Devoluciones, a beloved bilingual comedy-drama that became one of the highest-grossing Spanish-language films of all time. The plot follows a Mexican playboy who is suddenly saddled with a love child at his doorstep, and sets off to Los Angeles to find the mother.

Sleepy Hollow Cinema: No Se Aceptan Devoluciones (Instructions Not Included)

Culture, cuisine, and comedy came together to form an intricate network of hotels, bungalow colonies, and resorts throughout New York’s Catskill Mountains. With a strong Jewish lineage, the Borscht Belt came to be known as a distinctly American story—one represented by a diverse clientele that journeyed to the mountains in search of fellowship, basking under the warmth of the summer sun. Now, with the remaining hotel structures vanishing one by one, it is through these remaining artifacts, such as matchbooks, silverware, menus, and even architectural details, that this story can be shared. The lecture employs these relics to share with visitors the complete and complicated story of the Borscht Belt—one that extends before the Civil War and reveals the many industries, as well as individuals, that made it successful.
Presented live and in-person by <a href="https://alexprizgintas.com/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Alex Prizgintas</a>.
A&nbsp;historian, musician, and lecturer who focuses on the neglected history of the Catskills and Hudson Valley region, Alex Prizgintas serves as president of the Woodbury Historical Society in Orange County, New York, and has been published in the&nbsp;Hudson River Valley Review&nbsp;and the&nbsp;New York Archives Magazine. A preservationist, Alex stewards the&nbsp;<a href="https://alexprizgintas.com/borscht-belt-tourism-history" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Richard L. Benjamin Collection of Borscht Belt Tourism History</a>, which contains hundreds of documents, postcards, and ephemera from the Borscht Belt era. Many of these items will be brought to the lecture for attendees to view live.

Explore the landmarks, vistas, pastimes, environments, monuments, communities, and modes of transportation that once defined this city. “Losses” include river swimming, high-wheel bike riding, elevated railways, the original Penn Station, the old Croton Reservoir, the Chinese Theater, Seneca Village, the Central Park Hooverville, the fake window decals of the 1980s, and Bowling Green’s monument to King George III.

So many of the places we choose for “eating out” experiences have wonderful settings in historic buildings. A few have been places to gather for food and drink since the 1700s. Others are former farmhouses. Gilded Age mansions have been repurposed as grand dining establishments, fit for weddings and other celebratory occasions. Westchester can also claim several restaurants that have had wild success in clever adaptive reuse of older, sometimes unusual, structures. Our restaurants often reflect the history of our county, of America.&nbsp;
Barbara Davis, Executive Director of the Westchester County Historical Society, is the guide in this culinary tour that covers more than three dozen restaurants throughout Westchester, including the 1740’s Horse and Hound Inn in South Salem, The Fish and the Farmer in Purdys, Jean Georges Inn at Pound Ridge, and many others.&nbsp;

Month-to-month flexible car lease company opens New York hub in Larchmont to serve surrounding communities
<a href="https://www.flexcar.com/" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">Flexcar</a>, the first and only month-to-month car lease company, today announced its expansion into New York State with the opening of its New York hub in Larchmont. The launch grows Flexcar&rsquo;s East Coast footprint and makes its flexible car leases accessible to drivers across the greater New York area.

&ldquo;Expanding into New York marks an important milestone for Flexcar as we continue to scale nationally,&rdquo; said Ryan Quinlan, President and COO of Flexcar. &ldquo;We&rsquo;re seeing strong and growing demand for greater flexibility and affordability compared to traditional car ownership, and this launch brings that model to one of the country&rsquo;s most influential markets.&rdquo;
