Gloria Dei Old Swedes Episcopal Church

LOST AT SEA:
Seafaring Music & the Sailor Cenotaphs of Old Swedes' Church
Sunday, October 25th at 3pm
Gloria Dei, Old Swedes' Church • 916 S Swanson St, Philadelphia PA 19147
Tickets: $35 ($30 in advance) general, $15 student with ID
There is nothing more mysterious and heart-rending than the words “lost at sea.” 18th and 19th century sailor life encompassed back breaking work, adventure, harsh onboard discipline, and life threatening danger. As recently as 1980, 34 mariners perished on the SS Poet. Sea songs and music tell stories, lighten work, and illustrate the power and danger of the sea itself. Join The Publick Pleasure as we honor those lost at sea with seafaring songs, instrumental music, shanties and ballads.
