Greg Whitesell has been working as a journalist for about 15 years in and around the DC area for a variety of publications and wire services. He graduated from Ohio University with a degree from the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism and with minors in interpersonal communication and Spanish.
After moving to Edgewater in 2002, he realized that nothing beats covering news in his own backyard. "Laying down roots and actually being a member of your own community," are values in which Whitesell believes.
Whitesell grew up in Norfolk, VA and was inspired to pursue a career as a journalist after spending countless mornings reading his hometown newspaper, The Virginian Pilot-Ledger Star.
He lives in Mayo with his wife, Beth. They enjoy spending time on walks and sailing. They hope to have kids soon and they know that Edgewater has excellent schools for them.
As well as working for Patch.com, Whitesell also teaches sailing at J-World in Annapolis and runs his own photography business.
