The community is invited to Fairview Cemetery and Arboretum for an early morning bird observation walk, led by Pete Axelrod, a lifelong naturalist. Spring is a busy time for migrating birds, when a variety of species return to the north. Join fellow bird enthusiasts to observe some of these species on Saturday, May 9th to discover the thrilling sounds of songbirds in a pastoral setting of blossoming fruit trees and daffodils. Those interested are asked to gather at the back gate located on Gallows Hill Road at 8:00 am. Bring binoculars and wear walking shoes, as the grounds can be hilly. In the event of rain, the event will not be held.
Please register at Friendsoffairview1.org. Space is limited to 20 individuals, so make your reservation soon. Fairview Cemetery and Arboretum is located at 1100 East Broad Street, Westfield, NJ 07090. On premises parking is available.

CALLING ALL BIRD ENTHUSIASTS - BIRD WALK AT FAIRVIEW – May 9, 2026

Hosted by the Borough of Kenilworth, the Boulevard will be closed to vehicle traffic from 14th St. to 23rd St. and transformed into a giant block party from 10&nbsp;am-4:00 pm. This event will feature quality exhibitors, a special crafter’s section, lots of great food, kiddie rides, a kids’ area, live music and performances, local merchants &amp; civic organizations, and a large classic car show. The car show starts on the west end of the event at 14th Street.

SHOPPING Shop till you drop along the Boulevard with over 100 quality exhibitors selling jewelry, handbags, sports collectibles, clothing, home decor, and more. There is a special section featuring handmade crafts from local and nearby crafters and artisans, with unique, one-of-a-kind items.
LIVE ENTERTAINMENT Whether on stage or under our music tents, you will enjoy the sounds of some very talented cover bands, soloists, dancers, demonstrations from the local karate &amp; dance studios, and more. It’s also a chance to kick back and take a break in the music section, filled with tables and chairs for your use. This year we have 2 great bands: Cold Sweat from&nbsp;10am-1pm and Theatre Rock from 2pm-4pm.&nbsp;
KIDS ZONE Plus lots of fun stuff in the kids’ zone all day, where children will enjoy a section filled with kiddie bounce rides, slides, interactive blow-ups, face painting, sand art &amp; kids’ games, and temporary tattoos, just to name a few.
FOOD TRUCKS As you stroll along the Blvd, stop to have a bite to eat and sit at tables in our live music area. Come hungry and enjoy gourmet food truck favorites like sausage &amp; pepper sandwiches, cheesesteaks, kettle corn, chicken fingers, ice cream, zeppoles, shish kabobs, gyros, fresh-cut fries, fresh-squeezed lemonade, Italian ice, and many other great gourmet foods.
CAR SHOW This year’s event will again feature a car show of&nbsp;Custom…Classic…Street Rod…Muscle&nbsp;Cars&nbsp;in front of Harding School (Enter from Boulevard &amp; North 14th&nbsp;St./use&nbsp;426 Boulevard in your GPS). Set up starts after 10 am. Registration&nbsp; – Day of Show.&nbsp; Cars must be registered by 1:00 PM to be judged. Trophies for Winners!
