Come out and learn about our history and some interesting items along the way.Join us on Thursday, April 30th at 7pm at the West Goshen Township Building as we welcome Jim Christ (President of the Paoli Battlefield), to learn about all the battles of the Philadelphia Campaign of 1777. This talk will cover all the big battles, but also some of the smaller ones that you might not have heard of before. This presentation will also dismantle some of the myths that persist today and focus on what has been found about these battles. This presentation is FREE and open to the public. The West Goshen Township Building is located at 1025 Paoli Pike, West Chester, PA 19380. Jim also has books, tee shirts, and hats to help the Paoli Battlefield Preservation Fund (cash or credit accepted for these items).Jim Christ is President of the Paoli Battlefield Preservation Fund and has been on its board since 2012. Jim is an avid history buff and is also Vice President of the American Revolution Round Table of Philadelphia, Vice President of the Brandywine Valley Civil War Round Table, Board Member and docent of the Christian Sanderson Museum in Chadds Ford, Board Member of the Paoli Memorial Association, Treasurer of Historical Military Impressions, Inc, a non-profit military reenactment group that performs in several states, and a member of the Chester County 250th Committee. Jim works as Director of Client Services for Shelby Financial Corporation, in Exton Pennsylvania, and has an associate’s degree in business administration. Jim is married and lives on what was The Battle of The Clouds battlefield, a Revolutionary War battlefield in West Whiteland Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania. Second Chance Wheels: Chester County Rallies for the 3rd Annual Bicycle Recycling Event
East Whiteland, PA — This spring, something as simple as a bike can open a door. On Saturday, May 2, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., neighbors across the region are invited to turn unused bicycles into life-changing opportunities at Valley Creek Park.
Hosted by the Transportation Management Association of Chester County in partnership with Bike Chester County, this Community Bike Donation Drive keeps bikes out of landfills and puts them back into the hands of those who need them most.
Have a gently used bike collecting dust in your garage, shed, or basement? Donate young adult and adult bikes and give them a second chance. Each one will be refurbished and redistributed to individuals who rely on affordable transportation to reach work, school, food, and essential services.
For three years TMACC and Bike Chester County have held this event to celebrate May's Bike Month with purpose and heart.
Load up your car, meet the volunteers, and be part of something meaningful. Big ask: Share this event with friends, neighbors, and family and help keep the wheels of opportunity turning.

Mark Chiappone, age 55, passed away on January 17, 2026 in Miami, FL. Born on May 3, 1970 in Norristown, PA, to parents Donald and Phylis Chiappone Francis, Mark spent most of his childhood in PA, graduating from Great Valley High School, Malvern, PA in 1989 .Determined to be a marine biologist from the age of 11, Mark earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Science and Biology from the U. of Miami in 1991, and subsequently a Master of Science in Marine Biology from Nova Southeastern U., Ft. Lauderdale, FL in 2000, as well as graduate certificates in his field from the U. of Florida. 
Throughout Mark’s career with The Nature Conservancy, The Center for Marine Science, UNC at Wilmington, Key Largo, FL, The U. of Miami, The National Coral Reef Institute, and for 7 years as an adjunct professor in Mathematics and Oceanography, then 19 years as a Senior Associate Professor of Biology and Oceanography at Miami-Dade College, Homestead Campus, he never lost his love of the ocean or his passion and persistence to protect marine life, particularly coral reefs.He loved sharing that passion and knowledge with his students and anyone else who would listen.
Mark dedicated over 12 years of service as a volunteer with the U.S. Coast Guard out of Coral Gables, FL, contributing thousands of hours to Search and Rescue, Environmental support and boat crew training. His passion for teaching was an integral part of educating boaters throughout Miami-Dade County.
While he had a deep love and dedication to his work, Mark loved his family above all. And nothing meant more to him than his boys. Being their father was his greatest blessing and his proudest role.
Mark is survived by his sons, Dominic Conrad and John Paul, their mother, Lina Lopez; his mother, Phyl Francis; his sister, Holly Altemose (Lance) and niece Alexandra Altemose; his Aunt,Tracie Carpenter; his cousin, Joshua Carpenter; and his cousins, Sarah Herrmann and Rebekah Batot. 
He was predeceased by his father, Don Chiappone (2010); his stepfather, Bud Francis (2006); his cousin, Jeremy Lackey (2006); and his uncle and aunt, Jim (2001) and Rosemarie (2017) Herrmann. 
A Celebration of Life Open House will be held on May 3rd
from 1-4 pm at the Great American Pub, 148 Bridge Street in Phoenixville, and we will share light fare.
