Join Boston-area photographer Winslow Martin for a conversation on his contemporary photography exhibition My Armenia (1999–2008)—a body of work shaped by long-term engagement, relationships, and a deep attentiveness to place, with intimate portraits of his many trips to Armenia. Moderated by Arto Vaun, Executive Director of Watertown's Project Save Photograph Archive, the discussion will explore Martin’s evolving connection to Armenia and the role of time, return, and observation in his practice. May 14 at 7pm. Samples of Armenian wines and light refreshments will be served.

Join New Normal Boston on Tuesday, May 12th at Porter Square Books - Seaport Edition for Laughs for LUCE, a comedy fundraiser for the Immigrant Justice Network of Massachusetts.
This is the second in New Normal's "Laugh Hard, F*** ICE" show series, pairing comedy with crucial fundraising in collaboration with Boston-area independent bookstores.

The Center for the Arts in Natick

Hailing from the city of Boston, Alternative Pop artist Jodi Heights stands out in the sea of singer-songwriters with her classically honed technique and her poetic prowess. She holds multiple degrees in music, including a Master of Music from the New England Conservatory.
This release concert celebrates Jodi’s night-themed album, Nocturne, her first Grammy-submitted project.
“I’ve always been a night owl, so writing and recording a whole project centered around loving the dark seemed natural to me. I hope people will receive ‘Nocturne’ as a lullaby to their weary hearts. Turn off all the lights. Maybe burn a few candles, and listen to the whole album at night. Come find your way in the dark.” – Jodi Heights
Nocturne is Jodi’s 6th recording project and marks her second project with Grammy-nominated engineer John Weston of Futura Productions (Roslindale, MA). The album is available in Dolby Atmos, a spatial audio technology for immersive sound.

The Improbable Beasts bass clarinet ensemble, with special guests Meryl Summers(bassoon) and Solon Gordon (piano) present “We Rise,” a program of music about coming together in the midst of adversity, and rising up in community.
Beasts director Jonathan Russell will be joined by pianist Solon Gordon and bassoonist Meryl Summers in his compositional response to the dislocations and disruptions of our current moment called “We Reflect, We Grieve, We Rise.” 
After this, the Beasts present two more of Russell’s original compositions and close with a rousing rendition of the African American Spiritual and protest song “Down by the Riverside.” 
Come join the Beasts for a memorable afternoon of moving and rousing music.
