I’m a Weymouth girl, born and raised, and though I’ve lived in other places for periods of time where I most definitely had my fun, I still say there’s no place like home -- the South Shore will always own my heart.
My love affair with reading began early on in life. I grew up adoring books, loving the way carefully chosen words could be woven into wonderful sentences. In turn, I developed a passion for writing -- creating my own work of art through literary elements and sentence structure.
In college I majored in English with a concentration in Writing and Mass Communications. It was here that I realized my interest in journalism and pursued that vision by writing for my school newspaper, submitting pieces to the Globe, and applying for a communications internship in New York City.
During what I would describe as the best experience of my life (so far) I interned for NBC/Universal’s online media company, iVillage, working closely with the entertainment department developing celebrity news stories. Perks of this internship included bragging rights of having resided on the Upper East Side (albeit in a YMCA, but who’s counting), multiple celebrity sightings in and around the office, and most importantly -- seeing my byline next to several pieces of original work that were published to the site and gained thousands of public views.
I hope to bring to Patch a certain flair that comes with my excitement over writing and reporting.
