SYJCC

The Suffolk Y JCC, in partnership with UJA-Federation of New York, will host the exclusive premiere of its student-produced Links 2 Legacy Holocaust documentary on Sunday, April 19, 2026 at 4 p.m. at the Stage 74 Theater in Commack.
The original film is the culmination of the SYJCC’s Links 2 Legacy program, a hands-on Holocaust education initiative that brings local teens together with survivors to document their life stories. Over the past year, students met with survivors Ada Gracin, Walter Kleinmann, and Zelda Polofsky, learning their histories and preserving firsthand testimony through a powerful documentary experience.
The screening will be followed by a light dessert reception. The event also supports continued Holocaust education and efforts to combat antisemitism in the community.

Guests can enjoy wine tastings from LAVINO Wine &amp; Spirits, sushi, shopping with local vendors, raffles, music, and more. Bring your friends, sisters, moms, aunts, or grandmothers for a lively night out while supporting a great cause.
The event will take place Thursday, April 23, 2026, from 7:00–9:30 PM at the Suffolk Y JCC, 74 Hauppauge Road, Commack.

The SYJCC, in partnership with Abraham’s Table of Long Island, presents Elie Wiesel: Soul on Fire, a powerful 2024 documentary by Oren Rudavsky.
This compelling film, narrated in Elie Wiesel’s own voice, explores the life and legacy of the Holocaust survivor, author, educator, and humanitarian whose decades of work were dedicated to speaking out against injustice, hate, and the “sin of indifference.” A Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Wiesel’s story continues to inspire audiences around the world.
Join us on Thursday, April 23, 2026, from 6:30–8:30 PM at the SYJCC for this meaningful and thought-provoking screening.

Calling all superheroes! Join us for an afternoon of creativity and adventure as children design their very own Am Israel Chai! superhero capes and take part in a fun, super-powered scavenger hunt. This exciting program encourages imagination, community, and family engagement, making it a perfect outing for all ages.
Swoop in on Sunday, April 26, 2026, from 1:00–3:00 PM at the SYJCC for this action-packed event.

Put the kids to bed and enjoy a fun and engaging evening with the Young Moms Advanced Beginner Mah Jongg class at the SYJCC. Led by instructor Deborah Faust, this class is designed for players who already know the basics and are looking to improve their game, build strategy skills, and connect with others in a relaxed and social setting. Mah Jongg is a classic social tile game that’s fun, strategic, and a great way to make new friends. 
Classes will be held Thursday evenings from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. from April 30 through June 4 at the SYJCC building, 74 Hauppauge Road in Commack. 
The cost is $120 for members and $150 for non-members. This class is open to everyone. Students must purchase a Mah Jongg card from the National Mah Jongg League at nationalmahjonggleague.org to participate.

Verve 55+ at the Suffolk Y JCC invites adults ages 55 and over to join its monthly Line Dancing series, a fun and social way to stay active while enjoying great music and movement. Each session is led by professional line dance instructor Sherry Palencia and is designed for all experience levels. Participants will have time to mingle and enjoy refreshments before and after dancing, making this both a fitness and social experience. Singles are encouraged to arrive early for a meet-and-mingle before the class begins. The program takes place at the Suffolk Y JCC, 74 Hauppauge Road, Commack.
Dates: Every 3rd Thursday of the month: January 15, February 19, March 19, April 16, May 14, and June 18, 2026
