Applications are now open for the 2026–2027 Links to Legacy program at the Suffolk Y JCC. Designed for students entering grades 10–12, this unique leadership and Holocaust education initiative gives participants the opportunity to deepen their understanding of history through meaningful educational experiences, survivor and descendant connections, and community engagement.
Students in the program will explore the lessons of the Holocaust while developing leadership skills and helping ensure these important stories continue to be shared with future generations.
Applications are due Monday, September 14, 2026.

Berkshire Hills Eisenberg Camp

Active adults ages 55+ are invited to enjoy a three-day, two-night High Holiday Retreat to the Berkshires from September 15–17, 2026.
Hosted at Berkshire Hills Eisenberg Camp in Copake, New York, this unique getaway combines relaxation, recreation, and meaningful High Holiday experiences. Participants can enjoy fitness classes, aqua aerobics, pickleball, tennis, kayaking, canoeing, yoga, meditation, music programs, book discussions, evening entertainment, campfires, s'mores, and more.
Roundtrip transportation from the Suffolk Y JCC is included. Accommodations feature private bathrooms and air conditioning, with shared and private room options available.

Adults ages 55+ are invited to enjoy a memorable High Holiday Retreat in the Berkshires from September 15–17, 2026.
This three-day, two-night getaway offers an opportunity to relax, connect with others, and celebrate the High Holiday season in a beautiful camp setting. Participants can enjoy a variety of activities, including pickleball, tennis, kayaking, canoeing, fitness classes, yoga, meditation, music programs, book discussions, campfires, and evening entertainment.
Roundtrip transportation from the Suffolk Y JCC is included, along with accommodations featuring air conditioning and private bathrooms.
The retreat will take place at Berkshire Hills Eisenberg Camp in Copake, New York.

Interested in learning American Mah Jongg? Join this beginner class at the Suffolk Y JCC and discover the rules, tiles, scoring, and strategies of this popular game. Instructor Deborah Faust will guide participants through the fundamentals with hands-on instruction and guided games.
Classes meet on Wednesdays from 2:00–4:00 p.m., September 16–October 28, 2026, for six sessions. Please note there is no class on October 7. The program fee is $160, with a $120 discounted fee for Suffolk Y JCC members. Participants must purchase an official Mah Jongg card through the National Mah Jongg League or a local card retailer prior to class.

If you already enjoy playing Canasta and are looking for a new challenge, SUPER Samba at the Suffolk Y JCC is the class for you. Led by Annise Goodman, this advanced variation builds on the Canasta game you already know and love, introducing new strategies and exciting gameplay.
Classes meet on Wednesdays from 6:30–8:30 p.m., September 16–30, 2026, for three sessions. The program fee is $125, with a $100 discounted fee for Suffolk Y JCC members. A required $20 book will be added at registration.

The Jay Heritage Center in Rye, New York will celebrate America at 250 with a toast to Jay Medal honorees Pulitzer Prize-winning author Annette Gordon-Reed, the Carl M. Loeb University Professor at Harvard University and award-winning Lincoln historian Harold Holzer.
The Jay Medal for Service was created in 2012 to recognize individuals who demonstrate a selfless spirit of commitment to and engagement with their community mirroring the multifaceted contributions of John Jay and his descendants. These honorees have demonstrated through their life's work that our shared narratives as a country, complicated as they are, can be better illuminated through the highest caliber of ongoing scholarship and advocacy. Honorees are selected for their excellence in the fields of American history, environmental stewardship, social justice or civic engagement.
Joining the celebration will be Chief Judge of the State of New York and the New York Court of Appeals, Honorable Rowan D. Wilson and historian and philanthropist Elihu Rose who will present the awards at JHC's annual Soirée. Special guests will include David Blight, Frank Cogliano, Joanne Freeman, and Beverly Gage.

The Jay Medal Soirée will be held Saturday, September 19, 2026 at the Jay Estate from 5:30-9:30pm. Cocktails, dinner, award ceremony and dancing. Cocktail Attire.
