Jim Wolstenholme, Neighbor

I have been involved with boats most of my life, including building, sailing, chartering and living aboard boats. I also enjoy kayaking.

I especially like wooden boats. My master's thesis project was a journalistic look at how people were working to keep wooden boats and ships alive into the 21st century. I was invited to present the project at the Sigma Xi exhibition at UMass Dartmouth and did have a publishing house interested in the project at the time...maybe someday.

I have also captained several boats professionally, including a 40' charter sailboat, a 28-passenger harbor tour boat that used to run out of Fall River, Massachusetts and this season I ran a 23' charter fishing boat out of Phinney's Harbor on Cape Cod. When I am not writing, I help my brother maintain and restore wooden boats at his shop on Cape Cod and also help him run his kayak shop.

Other interests of mine include motorsports and skiing, both of which I have been interested in and have participated in on and off throughout my life.
