Presenting a collection of choral and instrumental music and readings, our music-inspired service will focus on celebrating the many gifts we receive from nature and reflecting on the urgency of taking action to preserve our one precious planet.

The First Parish was founded in 1640. The congregation worships in the historic meetinghouse that was built in 1797.

Join B'nai Torah MetroWest of Wayland and Temple Beth Avodah of Newton for soul-stirring music as two beloved voices in Jewish and folk music— Julie Silver and Sue Horowitz—come to our community for an afternoon Coffee House. Julie Silver, one of our most celebrated contemporary Jewish singer-songwriters, brings her rich voice and timeless melodies that have touched hearts across generations. With her warm vocals and heartfelt storytelling, Sue Horowitz blends Americana and spiritual Jewish themes into songs that uplift and inspire.&nbsp; Together, these award-winning songwriters offer a tapestry of music that celebrates the joy of sacred connection.&nbsp;

In 1935, Sinclair Lewis looked at the situation in Europe and the popularity of Louisiana politician Huey Long, and published a novel, It Can’t Happen Here, a cautionary tale on authoritarianism and the rise of fascism in America.&nbsp;A year later, Lewis and John Moffitt adapted the novel into a play with the same title.&nbsp;Since then, a reading version of the play, first created for radio, has been developed.
This reading of the First Act is open to the public, and admission is free. There will be a guided discussion following the reading.

• The event will run from 11:30 am – 12:30 pm • On the Sudbury Town Common, across from First Parish
All are invited to join Brad Saylor in learning Maypole dances and Tom Kruskal and the Hopbrook Morris dancers! There is no fee to attend this program. Free parking is available behind Sudbury Town Hall (322 Concord Rd, Sudbury)
Maypole dancing is a centuries-old tradition celebrated on May Day. It is believed to have started in Roman Britain around 2000 years ago, when soldiers celebrated the arrival of spring by dancing around decorated trees, thanking their goddess Flora. These days, dancers weave ribbons around a pole rather than a tree, celebrating the arrival of spring.
