John Ware, Neighbor
- La Grange, IL
As early as ten years of age I wanted to be an architect, I loved buildings and the artistic aspect of creating something from nothing. I spent my high school years at York High School enjoying any elective related to the design profession. During my years at Phoenix College in Phoenix, Arizona and subsequent transfer to Arizona State University I wanted to be an Architect. It was during the process of applying to the School of Design at ASU, where I came to the realization I always enjoyed creating the landscape and outdoor spaces around my buildings more than the buildings themselves. I changed my major and graduated in 1996 with a degree in Landscape Architecture.
During the next 5 years I designed residential communities, commercial and industrial projects and refined my understanding of the landscape profession. In 2001, after becoming a licensed Landscape Architect, I moved to Chicago with my soon to be wife. In Chicago I was fortunate to work at a firm whose primary focus was high-end residential and specialty commercial projects. In the fall of 2007 I started started the design firm of Wilson WARE Group which is growing and prospering today. Listening to the needs of my clients I also started Step of Green a landscape construction and maintenance company in the spring of 2010.
