Joe George, Neighbor

Born as an Army brat at Fort Hood, Texas, and grew up in Southeast Queens, New York City. Early on, "Little Joey" learned his work ethic and political mindset from his grandfather, Samuel Husbands. Joseph exhibited himself as a true scholar athlete, by excelling in mathematics and economics, as well as playing football and baseball for Andrew Jackson High School. During those years, Joseph worked under his uncle at his family's Soul Food Restaurant, The Rib Shack, in order to learn how to run a business.

Joseph decided to join the United States Army and served nearly 10 years in places such as the Republic of Korea, Bosnia-Herzegovina, the United Kingdom, Kuwait, and Iraq, with his last duty station being assigned to the elite paratrooper unit, the 82d Airborne Division.
