Juilliard Drama Presents August Wilson's The Piano Lesson Written by August Wilson Directed by LisaGay Hamilton (Group 18)
Juilliard Drama launches the fourth-year actors’ season with August Wilson's The Piano Lesson, the Pulitzer Prize–winning play, directed by alum LisaGay Hamilton (Group 18), who was a member of the original Broadway cast.&nbsp; In the midst of the Great Depression, Boy Willie arrives in Pittsburgh with a truck filled with watermelons, a dream of buying his own land, and a complicated relationship with the past. As he battles his sister, Berniece, over the sale of their inherited piano, old traumas resurface. In August Wilson’s own words, The Piano Lesson asks: “Can you acquire a sense of self-worth by denying your past?”
August Wilson's The Piano Lesson runs from October 7 to 10.Additional performances:<ul><li><a href="https://www.juilliard.edu/event/185526/juilliard-drama-presents-august-wilsons-piano-lesson" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Thursday, October 8, 7:30PM</a></li><li><a href="https://www.juilliard.edu/event/185526/juilliard-drama-presents-august-wilsons-piano-lesson" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank"></a><a href="https://www.juilliard.edu/event/185531/juilliard-drama-presents-august-wilsons-piano-lesson" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Friday, October 9, 7:30PM</a></li><li><a href="https://www.juilliard.edu/event/185531/juilliard-drama-presents-august-wilsons-piano-lesson" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank"></a><a href="https://www.juilliard.edu/event/185536/juilliard-drama-presents-august-wilsons-piano-lesson" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Saturday, October 10, 1:00PM</a></li><li><a href="https://www.juilliard.edu/event/185536/juilliard-drama-presents-august-wilsons-piano-lesson" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank"></a><a href="https://www.juilliard.edu/event/185541/juilliard-drama-presents-august-wilsons-piano-lesson" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Saturday, October 10, 8:00PM</a></li></ul>

<h3>'The Most Electrifying Party In Town' FORBES</h3>
<h3>'This new underground jazz speakeasy is the epitome of cool' TIMEOUT</h3>
<h4></h4>
<h4>Descend into New York's coolest speakeasy, where the walls hum and the night bends.</h4>
<h4>On October 9th, The Ace Hotel NYC turns down the lights and lets Richard Cortez slip into Ol' Blue Eyes' skin, as Daddy Rabbit conjures an evening where swing, silk, and a little smoke in the air prove that some voices — and some songs — never really leave the room. It's Sinatra as you've never heard him before. </h4>
<h4>Daddy Rabbit isn't a show — it's a living, breathing organism of sound. Classically trained pianists trade fire with bassists who groove like its gospel. Horn players wail beside jazz singers who whisper and roar in the same breath. MCs spit truth while beatboxers conjure entire rhythm sections from nothing but air and instinct.</h4>
<h4> </h4>
<h4>No two nights are alike. This is a carousel that never stops turning — a rotating cast of world-class musicians spinning original compositions alongside daring reinventions of Soul, Jazz, Rock, Funk, and RnB classics you thought you knew.</h4>
<h4> </h4>
<h4>Come hungry for something you can't name yet. Leave changed.</h4>
<h4> </h4>
<h4>This is Daddy Rabbit. Get in before the door closes. It's a show where you can literally stand with the band.</h4>
<h4> </h4>
<h4>Doors at 7pm. Show at 8pm. All tickets come with seats and table service.</h4>

Berkeley College’s 11th annual Women’s Entrepreneurship Week event brings together student entrepreneurs and women- and minority-led community businesses to learn, connect, and turn ideas into action. This year’s theme, “The Smart Hustle: AI for Small Business,” will share best practices on how aspiring entrepreneurs can use AI in ways that are practical, accessible, and immediately useful – not as another technology buzzword, but as a tool that can help small business owners save time, reduce costs, improve marketing and operations, and compete more effectively.
This event is open to students, alumni, and the community. Space is limited and registration is required. To learn more about sponsorships for our 2026 event, email <a href="mailto:KME@BerkeleyCollege.edu" rel="noopener" target="_blank">KME@BerkeleyCollege.edu</a>.

Can a Merchant Cash Advance Funder in New York Enforce a Personal Guarantee Against an Out-of-State Owner?
Your business is outside New York. Why is an MCA funder suing you personally in a New York court? If you signed a merchant cash advance (MCA) personal guarantee, the answer may be in the agreement&rsquo;s fine print.<a href="tel:+18882010441" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">Call Credible Law at 888-201-0441</a> for a case evaluationor visit: <a href="https://crediblelaw.com/new-york-mca-defense-attorney/" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">https://crediblelaw.com/new-york-mca-defense-attorney/</a>
New York changed its confession-of-judgment rule, CPLR 3218, so a private MCA funder generally cannot file a New York confession of judgment against a defendant with no New York residence or place of business. But that change does not cancel a personal guarantee or prevent a funder from filing a regular breach-of-contract lawsuit. The funder must pursue the claim through the court process.
An out-of-state business owner could receive a summons from New York Supreme Court in Rockland County, Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, or another New York county&mdash;even if the business operates in California, Texas, Florida, Georgia, or elsewhere.
Does living outside New York protect your personal assets? Not automatically. A properly enforced personal guarantee may expose the signer to a judgment beyond the business&rsquo;s obligations. But a lawsuit is not a judgment, and a New York filing does not mean the funder has proved its claim.
Review these issues immediately:
<ol>
 <li>What did you sign? Find the guarantee, any confession-of-judgment affidavit, and the clauses addressing New York courts, venue, and service of process.</li>
 <li>Why was the case filed in that county? A New York forum clause and a clause naming a particular county answer different questions. Counsel can assess whether the court has personal jurisdiction and whether venue can be challenged.</li>
 <li>What triggers personal liability? Some MCA guarantees depend on specific conduct or breaches. The exact wording and alleged facts matter.</li>
 <li>Were you properly served? Keep the envelope, delivery records, emails, and all court papers. Jurisdiction objections can be lost if they are not raised correctly and on time.</li>
</ol>
Sued in Rockland County over an MCA you took out elsewhere? Do not assume the 2019 confession-of-judgment change makes the lawsuit invalid. Have counsel review the agreement and complaint before your response deadline, especially if the funder names you individually as a guarantor.

New York Merchant Cash Advance Froze Your Bank Account?
Did you wake up to find your business bank account frozen after a merchant cash advance (MCA) lawsuit? If payroll, rent, and vendor payments are due, find out what legal paper caused the freeze before assuming the money is already gone.New York MCA account frozen? <a rel="noopener nofollow" href="tel:888-201-0441" target="_blank">Call Credible Law at 888-201-0441</a> for a case evaluation.
In New York, an MCA funder that has obtained a judgment may serve a restraining notice on a bank. The bank can then restrict access to the account. A New York City marshal or county sheriff may also be involved in enforcing the judgment through a levy. An information subpoena is different: it requests information and does not, by itself, freeze an account.
What should you do today?
<ol>
 <li>Call your bank and request the restraining notice, levy paperwork, creditor name, case number, court, and amount being held.</li>
 <li>Get the court file. Check whether there is a judgment, when it was entered, and how the lawsuit papers were allegedly served.</li>
 <li>Preserve records. Save bank notices, statements, the MCA agreement, payment history, and any summons or judgment papers.</li>
 <li>Speak with a New York litigation attorney promptly. Depending on the facts, counsel may seek an emergency order to show cause asking the court to stay enforcement, release or limit the restraint, and, where grounds exist, vacate a default judgment. Filing an order to show cause does not automatically unfreeze the account.</li>
</ol>
Can a New York MCA bank freeze be reversed? Sometimes. The answer depends on the judgment, the account ownership, how the creditor obtained the judgment, and the papers served on the bank. If you first learned about the lawsuit when your account stopped working, tell counsel immediately. A challenge to service may be relevant, but the court must decide whether there are grounds for relief.
Was your business never properly served? Does the restraint reach an account belonging to a different entity? Is the amount disputed, or is the freeze broader than the judgment permits? Those details can affect which motion to bring. Ask the bank whether the funds are restrained or already turned over; that distinction matters when seeking urgent relief.
Credible Law helps business owners connect with legal assistance for merchant cash advance lawsuits, frozen accounts, default judgments, and collection actions across Queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan, the Bronx, Staten Island, Long Island, Yonkers, White Plains, New Rochelle, Mount Vernon, Albany, Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, and New York State.
