Campfire Stories at Riverside Park Captivate the Imagination
Friday, October 16, 2026 – 6:30 p.m.
Riverside Park Hayfield
The fire is going. The stories are waiting. And who knows what might be lurking just beyond the glow of the campfire… 👀
This October, Bay City Parks and Recreation, Riverside Park, and the Bay City Public Library are teaming up for an evening of Campfire Stories—where spooky tales, gooey S’Mores, crafts, and a little campfire magic come together under the night sky.
Gather around the fire pit and prepare for spooky stories that might make you look over your shoulder, gooey S’Mores, and a fun craft to take home.
And remember… once the sun goes down, Riverside Park gets a little more interesting.
The event is FREE and open to the public. Guests are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket and settle in for an evening of spooky fun. Costumes are welcome—but come prepared. You never know who—or what—might join the campfire!

Survive the Zombie Wilderness Run at Riverside Park This October!
The undead are coming to Riverside Park on Saturday, October 24, and only the quickest (or most determined!) will make it to the finish line during the Zombie Wilderness Run.
Whether you're racing, walking, pushing a stroller, or bringing your four-legged running buddy, this Halloween-themed event is designed for the entire family. Participants can choose between a scenic and challenging 2K or 5K
course that winds through Riverside Park's beautiful natural landscape—including hayfields, wooded trails, campgrounds, and finishes with a triumphant sprint to the Ranger Station.
The 2K begins at 9:30 a.m., followed by the 5K at 10:15 a.m.
"This isn't your typical road race," said Kelly Penewitt, Parks and Recreation Manager. "It's a chance to enjoy the outdoors, have some Halloween fun, and make memories with family and friends while exploring one of Bay City's hidden treasures."
Registration is Now Open!
Registration is $40 per participant, with an Early Bird Discount of $10
available through October 9.
Register online at https://www.baycitytx.gov/669/Zombie-Run , or register in person at the Parks and Recreation Office (1209 10th Street) or Riverside Park (7668 FM 2668).
Not interested in breaking a sweat? We've got you covered!
For an additional $10, participants can purchase the event swag package without participating in the race. (We promise—we won't tell anyone you skipped the zombies!)

Awards will be presented during the celebration, including:
