Celebrate the summer solstice with a beautiful early morning trail run in Gay City State Park with three race distances to choose from: 3 mile, 5 mile or 8 mile. The 8 Mile race is part of the 2026 Blue-Blazed Trail Running Series and the USATF-CT Mountain, Ultra and Trail (MUT) series — a competition for teams of three to run the trails with a chance to win prize money.

Run the single-loop 5K or double-loop 10K through historic, quaint streets with a finish in scenic Wethersfield Cove on an unpaved trail along the water. This end of summer running tradition also welcomes walkers in the 5K.
Each race participant will earn a short sleeve technical shirt. After the race, enjoy grab and go snacks and fresh fruit in the cove.
5K &amp; 10K CHALLENGES: Motivate the running season with these two NEW multi-race goals. A great reason to keep up the effort with three unique 5K or 10K courses, custom swag at each race, and a commemorative medal to be proud of at the completion of the series. A spectacular beach race featuring stunning views! The half marathon course runs into the pristine neighborhoods of Watch Hill first before entering Weekapaug and running along the coastline and through the picturesque beach community. The Surftown Half Marathon, presented by Westerly Hospital, is a destination race not to miss, with additional distance options available.
The 2-person relay gives runners a chance to experience part of the awesome Surftown Half course split with a buddy for 5.1 mile and 8 mile legs. Relay participants exchange within walking distance of the pre/post-race area.
The 5K race offers a 3.1 mile beachy run to remember! The flat and fast course travels out-and-back along Winnapaug Pond and the Misquamicut beach community and starts shortly after the 13.1 mile race kicks off.
All participants earn a funky beach-themed finisher medal, a high quality short sleeve technical shirt and a post-race party by the beach with Flanders Fish Market chowder and a complimentary ice-cold beer from Grey Sail Brewing (21+ w/ID only).
