Farmington High School

Get ready for the MPower Youth Running Festival, sponsored by Farmington Recreation! This kids-only racing event gives young runners ages 2–14 a chance to experience the excitement of race day, without all those tall people blocking the view!
There's a distance for everyone, from the 0.25-mile Fun Run (ages 2–8), to the timed 1-Mile (ages 5–14), to the full 5K (ages 6–14).
All races take place on courses closed to traffic, with plenty of opportunities for family and friends to cheer. Local high school runners will join our 1-Mile and 5K participants as mentor runners, offering encouragement along the way.
Every participant receives a finisher's medal, MPower bag, and post-race refreshments. Professional chip timing and online results add to the race-day experience.
Whether it's their first race or their next personal best, come celebrate the joy of running with us!

Darcie Little Badger is a Lipan Apache writer with a Ph.D. in oceanography. Her critically acclaimed debut novel, Elatsoe, was featured in Time Magazine as one of the best 100 fantasy books of all time. Elatsoe also won the Locus Award for Best First Novel and is a Nebula, Ignyte, and Lodestar finalist. Her second fantasy novel, A Snake Falls to Earth, is a breathtaking work of Indigenous futurism, and received a Nebula Award, an Ignyte Award, and a Newbery Honor and is on the National Book Awards longlist. Darcie draws on traditional Lipan Apache storytelling structure to weave an unforgettable tale of monsters, magic, and family. Her newest book is Children of Owl (2026), which is a tale of three cousins and the world of creatures and ghosts that surround their trailer park.
