Following their spectacular 2025 Festival appearance, the Galvin Cello Quartet returns for an encore performance, bringing vibrant international energy and bold artistry to the stage. Prizewinners at the Fischoff and Victor Elmaleh Competitions, the ensemble is praised for its glorious sound and for redefining the cello quartet as a dynamic force in chamber music.

Praised as a quartet whose “cellists are brilliant instrumentalists and thoughtful musicians individually, but their renditions as a group are glorious,” (Arnold Steinhardt, Guarneri String Quartet) the Galvin Cello Quartet burst onto the scene after capturing the Silver Medal at the 2021 Fischoff Competition. Riding on the momentum of their Fischoff success, Galvin went on to win the 2022 Victor Elmaleh Competition and joined the Concert Artists Guild roster. With members from Brazil, South Korea, and the United States, the Quartet takes its name from the Mary B. Galvin Recital Hall at Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music, where three of its members – Sydney Lee, Haddon Kay, and Luiz Fernando Venturelli – met as students in the studio of acclaimed pedagogue Hans Jørgen Jensen. In June of 2024, the Quartet welcomed James Baik, another former student of Jensen, as their newest member.
With their untamable desire to create, change, and ultimately bring joy through music, the Galvin Cello Quartet is incredibly excited to make the undeniable case that the cello quartet belongs at the center of the expressive lexicon for chamber music alongside other traditional forms. The group’s vibrant international spirit reflects its artistic mission to bring together new works from diverse cultural backgrounds and dazzle audiences with the cello’s limitless capabilities. Bring the whole family for an engaging musical adventure with a lively cello quartet! In this warm and welcoming concert, four cellists come together to share the rich, expressive sound of on of the most beloved instruments in the orchestra. With music that ranges from playful and energetic to lyrical and beautiful, audiences will experience just how many colors and emotions the cello can create. Along the way, the musicians will introduce the instrument and show hour four cellos can blend together to create a full and vibrant sound. Young listeners will discover how the cello can sing, dance, and even surprise you with sounds you might not expect.

Anna Stube, violin | Jeanie Chung, piano | Thomas Wolf, author, narrator The Nightingale’s Sonata tells the moving, uplifting story of one of the first internationally renowned female violinists, combining live music, projected historical photographs, and narration by the author. Music by César Franck weaves through this powerful multimedia portrait of artistry and resilience.
ANNA STUBE, violin Nineteen-year-old Latvian violinist Anna Štube has captivated audiences with her remarkable depth of expression and a musical voice devoted to communicating compassion and humanity. Recognized as a featured artist on CBC Music’s 2022 “30 Under 30” roster, she made her orchestral debut at age thirteen with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, marking the beginning of a rapidly emerging international career.Anna’s honors include First Prize at the 2019 Orchestre symphonique de Montréal Manulife Competition, where she became the youngest winner in the competition’s history; the 2024 Corcoran Concerto and Chamber Music Competitions at the Glenn Gould School; and the Grand Prize at the Canadian Music Competition. During the 2024–25 season, she returned to the Calgary Philharmonic as a MacLachlan Ridge Emerging Artist. Recent highlights include her Koerner Hall debut performing Britten’s Violin Concerto with the Royal Conservatory Orchestra under Earl Lee, as well as appearances with the National Ballet of Canada Orchestra, Calgary Civic Symphony, and Kensington Sinfonia.
A passionate chamber musician, Anna has collaborated with ensembles including the Kronos Quartet, LGT Young Soloists, and the Grammy-nominated ARC Ensemble, and worked with artists such as Midori, Christian Tetzlaff, James Ehnes, and Noah Bendix-Balgley. Her festival appearances include the Banff International String Quartet Festival, Rockport Chamber Music Festival, and Toronto Summer Music.
Anna is the recipient of the 2024 Sylva Gelber Music Foundation Award and is pursuing a Bachelor of Music at the Glenn Gould School, studying with Jonathan Crow. She performs on a 1667 Andrea Guarneri violin generously loaned by CANIMEX Inc.
JEANIE CHUNG, piano Pianist Jeanie Chung is an accomplished soloist, chamber musician, and educator, widely respected for her refined artistry, musical insight, and collaborative versatility.  Equally committed to teaching, Chung serves on the piano faculty of the Manhattan School of Music, where she is Chair of Keyboard Studies. In this role, she shapes the school’s piano program, mentors students at all levels, and fosters an environment emphasizing technical excellence, intellectual curiosity, and artistic individuality. She is a frequent guest artist and pedagogue, giving master classes and workshops internationally.
As a performer, Chung is admired for her expressive depth, clarity of texture, and stylistic sensitivity across a wide-ranging repertoire. THOMAS WOLF, author, narrator Thomas Wolf is an acclaimed author, narrator, and cultural commentator known for his insightful writing and engaging storytelling. His work explores the arts, creativity, and the human experience, bringing clarity and depth to complex ideas while remaining accessible to broad audiences. As a writer, Wolf has contributed widely to conversations about music, culture, and artistic life, earning a reputation for intellectual rigor paired with a warm, conversational voice.
 As a narrator, Wolf is admired for his expressive delivery and ability to bring texts vividly to life. His work spans literary, historical, and arts-related projects, and he is frequently sought after for performances that require both emotional nuance and intellectual precision. Leaders 4SC is a summer workshop for middle school (rising 5th to 10th grade) students on writing and speaking, as well as leadership, communication, decision-making, and advocacy. Our goal is to train the next generation of civic leaders: members of a community who actively participate in society.<a href="https://leaders4sc.org" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">SIGN&nbsp;UP</a>
By the end of each week, students will have<ul><li>Completed at least one writing or speaking assignment arguing for and defending their opinion on any current issues</li><li>Participated in daily discussions and activities on a different major current event every day</li><li>Participated in daily task force activities to role play as key decision makers and stakeholder</li><li>Discussed, debated, and bonded with an incredible group of engaged young people! </li></ul>
