Wednesdays, September 23 - October 14Today’s high school students face intense academic, social, and college admissions pressure. Many feel they must excel at everything to be “enough,” and parents often find it difficult to support their child through the high school years. This four-session parent discussion series uses Never Enough as a framework to explore how achievement culture impacts our children’s mental health, motivation, and identity – and how we, as parents, can respond in healthier, more intentional ways. The discussions will create a supportive space for reflection, conversation, and practical strategies to help families redefine success during the high school years.
*This will be a small group, limited to 12 participants

Rendezvous Arts kicks off Season 7 with an audience favorite. But this time, we’re adding strings!
Our beloved Woodwind Octet returns—and it’s bigger than ever. Eleven musicians take the stage, bringing even more color, warmth, and energy. The program blends familiar favorites with something completely new.
And we mean completely new.
Local composer Scott Stevenson is creating a piece just for this ensemble. Nice Fresh will receive its world premiere at these performances. Rendezvous audiences will be among the first to hear this brand-new work, written specifically for the musicians onstage.
Next, the program takes a playful turn with Jonathan Dove’s Figures in the Garden. This lively serenade for wind octet draws inspiration from Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro. The program also gets up close and personal with intimate performances by horn trio and cello and bass duo.
Then comes a piece we’ve dreamed of bringing to Rendezvous for years: Antonín Dvořák’s Serenade for Winds in D Minor, Op. 44. It’s warm, lyrical, joyful, and full of personality. And with our expanded ensemble, it’s the perfect way to launch a new season.
A world premiere. Eleven musicians. Mozart reimagined. Dvořák at his most irresistible.
Strings attached? Absolutely.

<h3>Peach Jam: A Night of Allman Brothers Magic</h3>
Get ready to turn it up and settle in for a night of legendary sound. Peach Jam brings the spirit of the Allman Brothers Band to Gorton on Friday, October 16 | 7:30 pm. And from the first note, you’ll feel the groove.
Peach Jam is a collective of some of the best musicians Chicago has to offer. Formed in 2022, the band celebrates the music of the iconic Allman Brothers Band with passion, precision and plenty of improvisation. In other words, this isn’t just a tribute show. It’s a full-on jam experience.
First, the sound. Then the energy. And finally the feeling that you’ve stepped straight into a classic night at the Fillmore East.
The band brings together members of Chicago favorites Cornmeal, Terrapin Flyer, Old Shoe, Helping Phriendly Orchestra and the Brooklyn Charmers. Together they create a cosmic gumbo of hot jams, tight grooves, soaring vocal harmonies and down-home blues. The result is rich, soulful and built to move a room.
Expect extended guitar solos and deep grooves. Expect the kind of musical chemistry that only happens when great players share a stage.
And of course, expect the classics. The songs that helped define Southern rock. The melodies that fans have loved for decades. Plus the improvisational spirit that made the Allman Brothers Band legendary in the first place.

The Ninth Annual Event for the GPF Foundation​ features a keynote appearance by Ryan Knutson​, Editor &amp; Co-Host of ​T​he Journal, the daily podcast from the Wall Street Journal​. ​Lake Forest's Larry Potash, WGN-TV, ​w​ill again be emcee. ​Funds raised support the GPF Foundation’s goal of “Saving Lives Through Awareness.”
Ryan Knutson is a co-host and senior news editor of “The Journal,” a daily podcast produced by the Wall Street Journal that explores the forces driving global events, markets and major companies. Previously he worked at PBS and ProPublica, building a reputation for sharp investigative reporting and clear, accessible storytelling. Just like the GPF Foundation, Ryan's work helps bring awareness and understanding about news and events that impact us all.
In addition to the cocktail party, seated meal and conviviality, guests at the Annual Event will also hear an update on GPF Foundation initiatives from Ross and Nancy Friedman, Board Chair and Director, respectively. Current activities include:

Artificial Intelligence is rapidly changing how we learn, work, create, communicate, and make decisions. Held at the historic Krebs Center for the Humanities, this five-week series offers an accessible introduction to AI while exploring the ethical, social, cultural, and philosophical questions it raises – through demonstrations, discussion, and real-world case studies designed to help participants become informed and thoughtful users of these emerging technologies. Each week will highlight a new topic and begin with a social reception featuring food and refreshments.

Beyond the Melody: How and Why Unique Instruments Produce Unique Sounds
Registration fee: $250 for the four-week series

Course times: Monday evenings, 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Held at the newly renovated Glen Rowan House, “Beyond the Melody” is an engaging lecture and live performance series that invites audiences to discover the remarkable artistry and individuality of four distinctive musical voices: the cello, flute, oboe, and a blues band. Each week spotlights a different featured instrument or ensemble, exploring its history, evolution, and role across musical traditions while revealing the fascinating ways it creates sound. The opening and closing sessions will include a social reception featuring food and refreshments prior to class.
Both the educational content and social receptions will offer opportunities to build community, engage with College leadership, and learn more about ongoing campus initiatives.
