Todos Santos Plaza

San Francisco Opera is taking opera out of the Opera House for the fourth season of Bohème Out of the Box. These free, live performances of an abridged version of Giacomo Puccini’s La Bohème, featuring powerful emotions and soaring arias, will travel to outdoor locations throughout the Bay Area this April, including Todos Santos Plaza in Concord. The very first opera to be presented by San Francisco Opera 103 years ago, Puccini’s popular work of love and loss among a group of bohemian artists will be performed in an intimate one-hour version on a converted shipping-container-turned-mobile opera stage.&nbsp;
Directed by Jose Maria Condemi, Bohème Out of the Box will be performed by guest artists and San Francisco Opera’s Adler Fellows with piano accompaniment. The opera will be sung in Italian and guests will be able to access live English translations online via their smartphones.
Families with young children are invited to participate in a free First Act Workshop 30 minutes before showtime at all performances of Bohème Out of the Box.&nbsp;Explore Puccini’s La Bohème and get to know the passionate artists in the story. Bring along a favorite stuffed-animal friend and dance to “Musetta’s Waltz,” one of the most famous melodies in all of opera.Visitors are encouraged to make an afternoon of it by dining locally before or after the show and exploring Concord’s vibrant downtown district.Seating is first-come, first-served. Guests are welcome to bring blankets or lawn chairs.

Peace Lutheran Church

Chromatica invites you to be moved by exquisite choral music at 7pm on April 25 at Peace Lutheran Church, 3201 Camino Tassajara in Danville, and at 4pm on April 26 at Holy Shepherd Lutheran Church, 433 Moraga Way in Orinda. The Danville concert will include Chromatica’s popular post-concert reception.
Fresh from its first out of town performance in January in Santa Fe, New Mexico where it received a standing ovation for its performance of Christopher Tin’s Transfigurations, Chromatica returns with a selection of thrilling choral pieces for its Spring concerts. David Huff, Chromatica’s founding director, has assembled some remarkable pieces sung in English, Latin, German and Spanish to illustrate the enduring power of great choral music. Some compositions will include stringed accompaniment.
Alfred Lord Tennyson wrote the poem There is sweet music here in the 19th century to celebrate the emotional impact of music. In a setting composed by Zachary Moore, it frames Chromatica’s spring concerts. 
Brahms, Schubert and Schumann were all masters of vocal music, and the concerts include Brahms Abendlied, Schubert’s An Die Musik, and Schumann’s Widmung. Mozart’s Sanctus
from his Requiem, and Bruckner’s Locus Iste add more classical weight.
There are two Alleluias – one by Buxtehude and one more modern by Randall Thompson. Contemporary pieces by Randall Stroope (the lovely Amor de mi Alma), two pieces by Ola Gjeilo, and Dan Forrest’s The Sun Never Says add a modern emphasis to the concerts.
“It has always been Chromatica’s goal to identify and perform the best of choral music. These concerts show the extraordinary depth and beauty of choral writing across several centuries. Performing these pieces is both a privilege and a joy – and I’m sure our audience will love them” said David Huff, founding artistic director.
Concert tickets:

Chromatica Chorale was founded in 2011 and now includes 32 men and women singers. It has performed 26 prior series of ticketed concerts in the East Bay, attracting large and enthusiastic audiences. There will be music on the Todos Santos stage, a dozen eclectic food vendors, beer and wine garden, free activities for kids and myriad shopping opportunities.
SpringFest is open from 12 noon to 7pm with free admission and ample free neaSpringFest is open open Rain or Shine.rby parking in historic Downtown Concord. 
This free outdoor fair allows shoppers to see the unique goods and services from 100 vendors, home-based businesses and commercial exhibitors. Arts &amp; crafts, jewelry, apparel, plants, CBD products, home improvement, technology and much more will be available at SpringFest.
Attendees of all ages can bring a blanket or lawn chairs to sit in the park and enjoy the spring day. Pets on a leash are welcome as well.

Live music at SpringFest entertains attendees enjoying spring in downtown Concord:
12:30-2pm The Commanders Jazz Band celebrates America’s musical heritage performing the rich sounds of small group jazz. Part of the United States Air Force Band of the Golden West, The Commanders harness musical excellence, honoring our nation and those who have served. Their performance will conclude with a Musical Tribute to America’s 250th Birthday this year.
2:45-4:15pm Audio Mynde is a long-standing Bay Area band specializing in classic rock, blues and hits from the '60s through the 2Ks. Founded in 1990, the band has regularly played in the area for over 3 decades.
5-7pm Katie Knipp: The Concord native is a 4x Top 10 Billboard Blues Albums artist. Her music celebrates eclecticism and genre-fluid creativity. Her band features Pancho Tomaselli on bass (War, Tower of Power, Philm), Steve Utstein on the B3 (Cafe R&amp;B, Bo Diddley, Junior Wells, Lonnie Brooks), Chris Martinez on guitar (Sac Blues Hall of Fame, Guitar Mac, Arbess Williams) &amp; Neil Campisano on drums (4 top 10 Billboard albums).
Kid's activities include free balloon animals and hats.
The first 400 attendees will receive a SpringFest Goody Bag sponsored by Hamilton Tree Service and Ecomulch. Each registered attendee will receive a free raffle ticket for numerous SpringFest-themed prizes.
Donation of food to the Monument Crisis Center will earn the donor another raffle ticket for each can donated.
