🥂 Free exhibition viewing and celebratory reception, refreshments providedCircling In Situ contextualizes the work of New York area artists within their daily life, home, and logistical concerns. One artist makes photographs in spare moments while receiving medical treatment, another turns his neighborhood into a painting studio; a third uses found objects from a family home to connect local and familial history with global struggle.

There are as many ways to be an artist and sustain creative practice as there are people, and this collection of works showcases a diversity of not just subject matter and medium, but of the ways that the work comes into being. True to Circling’s ethos, a companion zine makes visible part of the constellation of objects, practices, and relationships that make these creations possible. While each artist works in their own medium and manner, this exhibition brings them together to highlight how the creative practice fits into the artist’s life.

(Turns out there's a lot of administrative work required!)

<h1>How do you create a home in which art can survive?</h1>
​In this 90-minute artmaking workshop, attendees will learn to make a miniature zine and then use it as a container for a meditation on the spaces we inhabit and the objects that support our creative practices.
​Taking inspiration from <a href="https://circlingcircling.substack.com/?utm_source=luma" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Circling</a>’s artist features, which invite artists to share a glimpse behind the scenes of their art practice using material objects and spaces as an entry point, this workshop invites community members to consider the same question. How do you make space for your creative work? What are the tools, supports, and material objects that facilitate your practice?
​Participants will first be guided through the process of creating a versatile mini zine out of paper, and then work through a series of prompts from a drawing warmup to a brainstorming activity, an object study, and a reflection, before sharing out with the group.

​Join Circling Studios and The Vessel (by Austen Bohmer) for movement and artmaking considering the embodied self as the site of creativity.
​The Vessel is a new movement practice for creatives by Austen Bohmer. Drawing inspiration from Butoh, yoga, Jungian Dreamwork, and dancefloors around the world, The Vessel helps you quiet your mind and connect to your body. This is where your creative impulse comes alive.
​After we move, create something with your hands. Guided by the Circling team, wrap up the afternoon with a reflective artmaking opportunity and connect what you've learned to your own creative practice.
​We hope you walk away feeling grounded, connected, inspired, and ready to integrate these experiences into the next steps of your artistic path.

​The first portion of the workshop covers speaking about your art in an audience-aware, multi-sensory, and grounded style as you prepare for studio visits, exhibition tours, or artist talks.
​The second portion explores how to hone descriptions of your work in writing for career development: communicate clearly and with a goal in mind as you draft pitch letters, funding applications, artist statements, and more.
​Throughout, there will be opportunities for discussion, Q &amp; A, and share out.
