Harp & Hound

As we begin to approach the Thanksgiving holiday season, I’m reaching out to you not only as a colleague, but as President of Islip Food for Hope and as someone who believes deeply in the power of our community taking care of one another.
This Thanksgiving, our goal is to make sure 1,300 local families can sit down together and enjoy a warm, traditional Thanksgiving dinner through our Boxes of Love program.
For many of us, Thanksgiving means gathering around a table filled with food, family, laughter, and traditions. But for far too many families in our community, putting that meal on the table is a real struggle. Food insecurity continues to impact more of our neighbors, seniors, and families than many of us realize.
That’s why this work means so much to me.
One of our favorite annual fundraisers is coming up at the Harp &amp; Hound in Islip. It’s always a great day filled with football, great food, tons of raffles, friends, and, of course, our famous Stop the Clock Drawing!
There is no admission fee. Food and beverages will be available for purchase at your own expense, so come down, spend the day with us, watch some football, and most importantly, help us help others.
We currently have just 150 Stop the Clock tickets left to sell, and I would love the support of my colleagues in helping us sell every last one.

You do not need to be present to win. Once you purchase your ticket, you will receive an email with your ticket number(s).
Starting at 5pm Every 15 minutes, we will draw a $500 winner, and our final drawing will be for $2,500! And here’s the best part: even if your ticket wins, it goes right back into the drawing and can win again.
Every ticket we sell brings us one step closer to filling another Box of Love and putting a Thanksgiving dinner on another family's table.
I have always believed that when our community comes together, there is very little we cannot accomplish. 1,300 families is an ambitious goal, but behind every one of those boxes is a family who deserves to know that their community cares about them.

Panelists:
Elizabeth Bosjza, MFA is an Assistant Professor of Practice in the Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science. She serves as the curriculum lead for the Alda Healthcare Experience. In addition to designing science communication curricula and leading Alda Center programs, she also holds a joint appointment in the Department of Communication where she teaches science communication graduate courses and is responsible for supporting students in the Advanced Graduate Certificate program.
Lydia Franco-Hodges is an Assistant Professor of Practice in the Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science, where she designs and facilitators professional development programs that blend applied improvisational theatre with communication strategies. In addition to science communication programs, she developed and delivered the Alda Center's Women in STEM Leadership Program.Prior to joining the Alda Center, Lydia taught acting at Stonybrook University.
Mary Theresa Archbold partners with her husband Pat Shay teaching improv skills to parents and families, PTAs and community groups. She is an award winning NYC based performer who has appeared on Television (Law &amp; Order: SVU, Bull) and Broadway and off-Broadway stage -most recently in the 2018 Pulitzer Prize winning play Cost of Living and solo performer who is a prolific creator blending her passions in a style uniquely her own: dance/comedy. She has been featured on <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ewwL2kA6iEU" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">The Moth </a>and <a href="https://www.thisamericanlife.org/469/hiding-in-plain-sight/act-one-1" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">This American Life.</a>
Pat Shay spent ten years in Chicago, studying with Del Close, Charna Halpern, Mick Napier, and Ali Farahnakian, and performing, teaching, and coaching: including in touring casts for IO &amp; the Second City. Along the way, he got to play leads in plays like Hamlet and Taming of the Shrew; and singing versions of Obi-Wan Kenobi and Pa Ingalls. With his wife, Mary Theresa Archbold, he’s written Pat &amp; Mary Save Their Marriage and Jazz Hand, which has won awards and great reviews across the country – including making the final four of the NBC/Universal Shortcuts Festival. Pat has played Brian in both Off-Broadway runs of Flanagan’s Wake. He has been seen nationwide in commercials for Hardware and Insurance, and has bobsledded through the audience of Late Night with Conan O’Brien.
