The Joliet Public Library will host its second annual Fandom, Art &amp; Music Expo (FAME), a free, family-friendly mini-convention on Saturday, Sept. 12, featuring nearly 50 Chicagoland artists, cosplay, games, contests and other pop culture fun.The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the library’s Ottawa Street Branch, 150 N. Ottawa St. Parking is available in the Ottawa Street parking deck. Admission is free. The Friends of the Joliet Public Library will host its popular fall book sale Oct. 23-25 at the Black Road Branch, offering gently used books, movies, audiobooks and music at bargain prices while raising money to support library collections, programs and services. The sale will be held October 23-25 at the Black Road Branch, 3395 Black Road. Prices for hardcovers and DVDs/Blu-rays are $1; paperbacks, audiobooks, music CDs, and all children and teen items are 50 cents; bundles priced as marked. Friday, Oct. 23 is Friends members-only night from 5-7 p.m. Non-members can join the organization at the door and be granted entrance for early browsing. Membership dues start as low as $5. Saturday, Oct. 24 the sale is open to the public from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. On Sunday, Oct. 25, the sale is open to the public from 1-3 p.m. for a bag sale, where visitors can fill a provided bag or their own bag for $4. All proceeds are donated to the Joliet Public Library.

Will County's Recyclepalooza takes place in New Lenox on Saturday, September 12, 2026, in partnership with ShareFest Will County! Free of charge, county residents can drop off nearly all kinds of unwanted electronics (such as televisions and computers), household hazardous wastes (such as paints, automotive fluids, and lawn chemicals), as well as scrap metal, wood, and clean polystyrene (Styrofoam) for recycling or safe disposal. Food pantry and animal shelter donations, toys, clothing, small home goods in working condition, and more will also be accepted.
The event takes place in New Lenox from 8 AM to 2 PM.
