June Long-Schuman, Neighbor

June Long-Schuman is an award-winning fine artist and teacher who has shown her work locally on Long Island, and in Newport, Rhode Island. Tranquility, immortality, and the spiritual nature of existence have all played a part in her work.

After graduating with a BFA in Fine Art from Pratt Institute in 1977 June went on to Dowling College in 1985 to receive a teaching Certification in Art. June continued studying art at C. W. Post in the graduate program and later received a Masters in Liberal Studies from Stony Brook University. She studied printmaking with Dan Welden in 1985 and has had numerous award-winning shows featuring her monoprints.

Since 1998 June has focused on plein air painting in oils. Her goal is to capture the essence of the moment; "Painting is a way of connecting with the moment and the place in time and history. My goal is to capture the light and the essence of the place so the viewer can share the experience and the feeling of being there."
