New Providence Presbyterian Church

Ricky Riccardi, a two-time Grammy-winning author and director of research collections for the Louis Armstrong House Museum in Corona, Queens, NY., will be our speaker. Not many Louis Armstrong fans are aware of the circumstances he had to overcome in his early days. Growing up in the toughest part of New Orleans, Armstrong was lucky to make it out alive, but music found him at an early age and he never looked back. Our speaker will be Ron Weinger. After an early career as an aerospace engineer, Ron transitioned to ‘application programming’ - a field he pursued for the remainder of his long career and still strongly identifies with today. Summit Old Guard Speaker Program - COBOL, The Language of Dinosaurs

Our speaker, Tricia Souder, is a donor relationship specialist at The Seeing Eye, the oldest guide dog school in the world. The Seeing Eye is a philanthropic organization whose mission is to enhance the independence, dignity, and self-confidence of people who are blind through the use of Seeing Eye® dogs. In pursuit of this mission, The Seeing Eye trains Seeing Eye dogs to guide people who are blind and instructs them in the proper use, handling, and care of their dogs. To share how this life-changing work is accomplished, one of The Seeing Eye's guide dog mobility instructors will join Kyle Street, a Seeing Eye graduate. Our speaker will be Marty Green, a retired Materials Scientist at Bell Labs. Marty has been an avid numismatist for more than 65 years. Money is the medium of exchange that makes buying, selling, and trade possible. Before money, people relied on barter, exchanging goods and services directly—a system with significant limitations. The development of money transformed both domestic and international commerce, laying the foundation for modern economies. This presentation focuses on coins, the world's most enduring form of money, for nearly 2,700 years. Summit Old Guard Speaker Program -  A History of ‘Hard’ Money 

Our speaker, Jerry Soloway, has been a consultant on submarine fiberoptic systems and technology for the past dozen years.Prior to this, he spent 29 years at Bell Labs working on the development of several diverse types of communications systems and devices. Submarine fiberoptic systems are the unsung heroes of the Internet, carrying as much as 99% of transoceanic data, dwarfing the traffic carried by satellite systems.They share much technology with their terrestrial counterparts, but there are many unique challenges to developing, installing, and maintaining these systems. In addition, there are threats to these systems that the world must recognize and combat. Summit Old Guard Speaker Program - Submarine Fiberoptic Cable: What Really Moves the Internet 

Our speaker, Mark Scher,
is a retired attorney with decades of experience in immigration law. Born in Warsaw, Poland, he earned his law degree from the University of Warsaw before arriving in the United States as a refugee in 1969. He later received a J.D., and an LL.M. in International Legal Studies from New York University. He served as an attorney with the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service, an Administrative Law Judge, and later practiced immigration law in New York City. He will discuss the current immigration policies, including efforts to reduce unauthorized immigration, expand detention and deportation, restrict asylum and refugee protections, limit humanitarian immigration programs, and strengthen executive authority over immigration enforcement (ICE). GALERIA The Art Venue

The popular LATIN JAZZ @ GALERIA concert series returns with an evening featuring the accomplished BARBARA MARTINEZ &amp; ALBA MUSIK music &amp; dance group on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at 7:30pm at the intimate GALERIA, located at 111 Quimby Street in downtown Westfield, NJ. 
Enjoy a special evening of flamenco in fusion with a rich variety of musical influences like pop, jazz, funk, Latin and world music. The dynamic duo behind the compositions is powerhouse vocalist Bárbara Martínez and virtuosic guitarist Albert Alabedra from Barcelona, Spain. Both of their studio albums, “Dawn” and “Alma”, have made it to the first round for GRAMMY nominations. They are joined in concert by acclaimed vocalist, flamenco dancer and percussionist Olyda Ola and talented bassist and percussionist Sean Kupiz.
Bárbara comes from a lineage of celebrated Argentinian tango singer/actresses <a href="https://www.facebook.com/morenitareyoficial/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Morenita Rey</a> (her grandmother) and <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Libertad_Lamarque" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Libertad Lamarque</a> (her grand-aunt.) Her father, Rafael Martínez, was a celebrated Venezuelan sculptor who played a role in the kinetic art movement from Latin America. Bárbara has worked as an actor, dancer and choreographer in multimedia musical plays written and directed by her mother, playwright and art-historian, Amelia Arenas.
A native of Barcelona, Spain, Albert has self-taught guitar since the age of 14. Albert was exposed to flamenco at an early age, with a mother from Córdoba and grandparents from Sevilla, the southern Spanish province of Andalucía where flamenco originated. In addition to the traditional flamenco, popular throughout Spain, Albert grew up with the global characteristic influences of cosmopolitan Barcelona.
Refreshments will be available for your enjoyment. Also, enjoy the current fine art exhibitions at the unique GALERIA The Art Venue gallery, including fine art creations by several international and local artists. We recommend enjoying a fine meal or dessert at one of various fine restaurants in downtown Westfield before or after the show.
