Brahms created his Requiem as comfort and consolation to the living. He chose a deeply personal set of texts from Scripture, and set them to music of radiant tenderness. Renowned soloists Liz Lang and Lester Lynch, with the Chancel Choir and Orchestra offer this message of solace to all those in need of hope and healing. This performance marks the premiere of a new orchestration by Abraham Wayman, adapting the massive forces of the original version to the intimate setting of Brick Church.

Palestinian Aziz Abu Sarah and Israeli Maoz Inon forged a bond of brotherhood when the world expected them to be enemies.
Both have lost family to the conflict. Both have known the bitterness of righteous anger. But they chose a different path. Join them for a powerful conversation about their unlikely bond — and their new book,&nbsp; The Future is Peace.
Abu Sarah and Inon are often asked: in the face of so much loss, how can we ever find hope? Their answer is always the same. One cannot find hope. We must create it.&nbsp; The Future is Peace&nbsp;is a rebuttal to a broken world and a bold challenge to the belief that more violence can ever bring security. Told with unflinching honesty, Abu Sarah and Inon's story is proof that peace is not a naive dream, but a courageous choice — for reconciliation to heal the wounds of revenge, for partnerships to change a destiny of war, and for empathy to save us from drowning in sorrow.
In this timely conversation, moderated by TED’s Helen Walters, hear them discuss the experiences that shaped their journeys, the relationships that transformed their understanding of the "other," and how empathy can save us from drowning in sorrow. Moving beyond politics and headlines, they explore what it takes to break cycles of fear, grief, and how ordinary people can become agents of healing and change.
Expect an inspiring and challenging discussion about courage, friendship, and the possibility of building a future rooted not in victory over one another, but in a shared commitment to peace.
After the talk, both Aziz and Maoz will be signing copies of their book, The Future is Peace.

Americans voted for change. But what kind?
Democrats have won control of Congress. But a rejection of the party in power is not necessarily an endorsement of the alternative. What did voters reject — and what are they asking for now? Has anything fundamentally changed about the crisis facing American democracy?
Fareed Zakaria and Patrick Deneen meet at 92NY for America’s Liberal Reckoning, a Munk Debate on whether America’s founding commitments to individual rights, free expression, and limited government can answer the country’s discontent — or helped create it.
Join us as the Munk Debates, Toronto’s renowned forum for substantive and fearless public debate, come to New York City for the first time, with longtime moderator Rudyard Griffiths presiding.
The motion: Be it resolved, liberalism has failed America.
Arguing for the motion, Notre Dame political philosopher Patrick Deneen, author of Why Liberalism Failed and Regime Change: Toward a Postliberal Future, contends that liberalism’s failures grow out of its successes. By putting individual autonomy above all else, he argues, it has weakened families, communities, and the institutions that give life meaning — while concentrating power in corporations, bureaucracies, and a professional elite. For Deneen, America needs to move beyond liberalism.
Arguing against the motion, CNN anchor, Washington Post columnist, and international bestselling author Fareed Zakaria maintains that liberalism’s principles remain essential to America’s future. Individual rights, free expression, free markets, and democratic institutions have delivered freedom and prosperity while allowing people with profoundly different beliefs to live together. The answer, he argues, is to renew those commitments.
After the votes, hear the arguments — with two leading thinkers debating what America should do next.

<h3>'The Most Electrifying Party In Town' FORBES</h3>
<h3>'This new underground jazz speakeasy is the epitome of cool' TIMEOUT</h3>
<h4>On November 14 it's the birthday bash of Daddy Rabbit founder and virtuoso pianist Misha Piatigorsky. This is a carousel that never stops turning — a rotating cast of world-class musicians playing original compositions alongside daring reinventions of Soul, Jazz, Rock, Funk, and RnB classics you thought you knew.</h4>
<h4></h4>
<h4>Descend into New York's coolest speakeasy, where the walls hum and the night ignites. On Misha's Birthday every note carries a little more passion. Every interpretation lands a little brighter. The strings &nbsp;hold their bend a breath longer, the bass sinks deeper into the pocket, the horns come in bold, and the songs feel vivid again, like old favorites with the saturation turned up.</h4>
<h4> </h4>
<h4>Daddy Rabbit isn't a show — it's a living, breathing organism of sound. Classically trained pianists trade fire with bassists who groove like it's gospel. Horn players wail beside jazz singers who whisper and roar in the same breath. MCs spit truth while beatboxers conjure entire rhythm sections from nothing but air and instinct.</h4>
<h4> </h4>
<h4>Come hungry for something you can't name yet. Leave changed.</h4>
<h4> </h4>
<h4>This is Daddy Rabbit. Get in before the door closes. It's a show where you can literally stand with the band.</h4>

<h4>Doors at 7pm. Show at 8pm. All tickets come with seats and table service.</h4>

The Saint Andrew Chorale opens its 62nd season with two glorious choral works of the 20th and 21st Centuries. Hagenberg’s Illuminare has quickly gained a place in the modern choral repertoire, set to a compilation of sacred and poetic text in Latin and English, the piece draws on themes of light overcoming darkness. Vaughan Williams’s Dona Nobis Pacem (“Grant us peace”) is a profound plea for peace in a troubled world, setting texts from the Latin Mass alongside poetry by Walt Whitman reflecting on the horrors of war and the hope for reconciliation.

Alderfer Auction of Hatfield,&nbsp;PA, is honored to unveil an art discovery as the centerpiece of our upcoming December 10 Fine Art Auction: an unpublished, original oil portrait by one of the iconic American painters of the twentieth century, Alice Neel (1900–1984).
<h3>A Masterpiece Revealed: Dr. William Hanaway Jr.</h3>
·Estimate: $200,000 – $300,000
·Market Status: Never publicly exhibited or published—completely fresh to the market.
·Direct Lifelong Provenance: This exceptional canvas was presented directly by Alice Neel as a personal gift to Dr. Hanaway’s mother—her longtime close friend Nell Prince Hanaway. It has remained privately held within the sitter’s family line for decades until its consignment to Alderfer Auction.
In Dr. William Hanaway Jr., Neel renders the young scholar, future University of Pennsylvania professor, and championship sailor with extraordinary sensitivity and graphic clarity. Positioned before a rhythmic flotilla of stylized white sailboats set against luminous ocean blues, the composition masterfully weaves his intellectual poise with his passion for the sea. It stands as an intimate testament to Neel’s ability to merge personal affection with formal daring.

<h3>Alice Neel: The Uncompromising "Collector of Souls"</h3>
Widely recognized today among the greatest portraitists in modern art history, Alice Neel was a singular, fierce visionary. Born in Pennsylvania and trained at the Philadelphia School of Design for Women (now Moore College of Art &amp; Design), she boldly forged her path through the heart of the twentieth-century American art world.
During the mid-century decades—when Abstract Expressionism and Minimalism completely dominated critical tastes and galleries largely shunned figurative work—Neel remained unswervingly committed to representing the human figure. She rejected the flattering conventions of society portraiture, instead describing herself as a “collector of souls.” Whether painting friends, family, writers, civil rights leaders, or neighbors across Spanish Harlem and Manhattan, she captured the raw psychological reality and vital spirit of her era.
While long under-recognized by an art establishment that favored abstraction and sidelined female artists, Neel's genius gained widespread acclaim through major retrospectives at the Whitney Museum of American Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and premier cultural institutions worldwide. Today, her works command center stage in the permanent collections of MoMA, the Met, the Tate Modern, and leading private collections globally.
