This spring, our signature fundraising celebration, Art People Party, gets a gritty makeover with a ’90s grunge theme, making for an unforgettable night where art, attitude, and community collide.
The Arts Council of Princeton proudly presents Art People Party 2026: GRUNGE, a raw and joyful evening celebrating the people who make our community feel creative, connected, and alive! Dig out your flannel shirt, dust off your Dr. Martens, and reengage with your attitude at this bold mashup of Tombola art, throwback sounds, righteous bites, angsty drinks, and pulsing community energy!&nbsp;
Plus, our beloved Tombola art experience returns, where each Tombola ticket holder goes home with an original artwork contributed by talented regional artists. Each Tombola ticket holder will choose an original piece by a talented regional artist, after first previewing the available choices and making a quick decision when their number is drawn.
Come for the grunge, stay for the art, and dance the night away with friends old and new.

<h3>In honor of Princeton Porchfest, we’re thrilled to take our monthly Story &amp; Verse show outdoors to Hinds Plaza, joining in on the community fun and gathering together an enthusiastic audience for the literary + performing arts.</h3>
Whether you’re a seasoned writer or a first-time performer, Story &amp; Verse offers a warm and welcoming platform to express yourself and engage with a diverse audience of creatives, casual appreciators, and everyone in between. 
Join us as a performer:
<ul><li>Prepare a story, poem, or spoken word piece up to 5 minutes in length and (at least loosely) related to the theme. This month’s theme is open!</li><li>Arrive by 11:45am to add your name to the hat. No previous experience or pre-registration necessary.</li></ul>
Join our audience:
<ul><li>Find a seat or stand on Hinds Plaza and enjoy the performances. We kick off shortly after 12pm.</li></ul>

Story & Verse: Storytelling + Poetic Open Mic (Outdoor Porchfest Edition!)

<h3>The fifth annual Princeton Porchfest will be held Saturday, April 25 from 12-6pm.</h3>
Starting at noon, multiple porches around town – generously lent by neighbors – will host sets of live music throughout the day.
Stroll around town to hear live local talent, grab a bite, drink, or coffee from one of Princeton’s amazing small businesses, and enjoy a day of free community fun.

For the past 30 years, Café Improv has connected beginning and professional performers in the Arts Council of Princeton’s Solley Theater.
Serving as a vibrant musical oasis for the Princeton community, Café Improv is a gathering place to share artistic ideas and provide inspiration to others. Attendees can expect an evening of exciting local music, poetry, comedy, and more! Café Improv is easily accessible to the public through affordable admission rates of $1 for ACP Members and $2 General Admission.

Use this open studio space to tackle a creative project!
Have a stack of art supplies collecting dust? Looking to make your existing artistic process more social?
If you’re ready to tackle a craft and enjoy the company of other creative-minded folks, join us in the Craft Corner for an evening of casual art-making. This is an open space to use freely – bring your watercolor set, coloring book, sewing machine, polymer clay – and get to work! If you’re between projects, you’re welcome to bring a book, a puzzle to work on with the group, or anything that will spark your creativity.
Ages 18+. This is a non-instructional gathering and attendees are responsible for bringing their own projects to work on. Please be mindful and avoid turpentine or other odorous materials. BYOB + snacks welcome!

Story &amp; Verse provides a warm and welcoming spotlight for both emerging and established artists in our Solley Theater, an intimate space in the heart of Downtown Princeton.
Join us as a performer:
<ul><li>Prepare a story, poem, or spoken word piece up to 5 minutes in length and (at least loosely) related to the theme. This month’s theme is “Ready, Set, Go!”</li><li>Arrive by 6:45pm to add your name to the hat. No previous experience or pre-registration necessary.</li></ul>
Join our audience:
<ul><li>Take the elevator or stairs to the Solley Theater, located on the top floor of our <a href="https://artscouncilofprinceton.org/about/visit/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Paul Robeson Center for the Arts</a>.</li><li>Optional: participate from your seat with a&nbsp;Micro Story. Read the printed prompt based on the evening’s theme and respond with a super concise story (just a line or two!) that answers the question. Brass Rabbit will read your story at the mic, as time allows.</li><li>Find a seat and enjoy the performances. We kick off shortly after 7pm.</li></ul>
